Family.
According to the textbook, family is defined as two or more people, related either by birth or through social commitment, who share resources, care for any dependents, and often maintain a close emotional relationship. I look at family as people who people who love me and who are related by birth, I consider my closest friends my family because sometimes they are there more than my birth-related family members. The photo on the left contains three people that are a part of who I consider my family. It's my sister and her two kids. This is a facetime screenshot from around the time all of us were sick. They were at the Urgent care not too far from my house. I took a picture of them because they are three family members that make me happy, and I enjoy capturing good moments with them.

This picture means a lot to me because my sister is there for me emotionally and sometimes financially which is what a family is expected to do. Even though my mom isn't in the photo, she is another person that is there for me the way that a family member should be. Moms have a different love for their kids and my sister is really close to her children. The way that they are all over her shows how they don't mind being that close physically because they all love each other.
Deviance.
In the textbook, deviance is defined as behavior that does not conform to basic cultural norms and expectations. Basically, that means that anything that goes against social norms is deviant. A lot of things that have been normalized today would've been considered deviant years ago. In the photo that I used, I'm wearing false lashes. I also have multiple piercings and a tattoo. In total, I have 9 piercings. Although piercings and tattoos have been normalized, to some people, they would still be considered deviant. Both photos were taken this year at SELU which is where I attend school.

This photo captures me being deviant. No matter how many people normalize piercings and tattoos, there will forever be people that look them as deviant because it's something that wasn't normal around the time, they were growing up.
RACE
In the textbook race is defined as a category of people widely perceived as sharing as sharing socially significant physical characteristics such a\s skin color. Race consists of bone structure and skin, hair, or eye color. This photo is a photo of my friend, Destinne. Destinne is mixed with black and white. She has some white features and some black features. In this picture, we were sitting outside of the union on campus eating Chik-Fil-A. If you look at Destinne, you'd be able to tell that she's black because of how her mixed features weigh out.
Since I'm 100% black, you could tell by my hair, skin color, nose, lips, and body shape that I am black. With some people, you can't really tell. White people have different facial features and skin colors than black people.
