
Dear Parents,
After reading aloud, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we did a shared writing activity where I presented the pictures of the various foods that the caterpillar ate. Each child pointed to, said, or gazed at the food that he/she liked. I wrote the words "I like" followed by his/her choice. The kids then worked with me to cut the sentence strips apart and put them back in order to match the original sentence (with lots of support). They then "illustrated" their sentence. I hope you enjoy their first shared writing book.
