VR could end up making us spoiled and unhappy as the technology gets better and better each day. VR is already very immersive but at the end of the day, we still know that it is fake.

As the technology becomes better and with many companies trying to create the “metaverse” the line between reality and virtual is fading. 

If not done correctly the metaverse could mess up our already complicated world. 

As we’ve seen from concepts, the metaverse will allow you to make an avatar that represents you, and it can be whatever you want it to be. 

You can create your own virtual homes, and then when you take off the headset, all that goes away, and it could make you wonder if you really want this. 

People may lock themselves in the virtual world to escape reality, and others may become abusive of the system. 

There is technology being developed that interfaces with your brain, such as Elon Musk’s neural link, which he says, “Can stream music to the brain."

If these neural interfaces are not properly regulated, they may become a problem, not just hackers playing “Never gonna give you up” by Rick Astley directly to your brain, they could be used to stalk you and possibly kill you.

The VR world already has little regulation, currently relying on the companies that make the headset to moderate them. 

Big companies like Meta are known for their bad moderation and their (mostly) toxic community, and people in VR can already be seen harassing others.
