This book is dedicated to my dog, Mabel.
I love you!

Brrr! The alarm woke Kalinda up with a shock. Mabel jumped on her bed and licked her nose. Mabel was a six-month old Schnoodle and Kalinda's best friend.
"I'll take you out later..." said Kalinda sleepily. Her family had just moved into a new house and were all exhausted from packing and unpacking boxes.

"Breakfast is ready!" Mum called from upstairs. Mabel and Kalinda followed the smell of bacon to the kitchen. As Kalinda ate her breakfast, Mabel sat with her mouth watering.
"Not for you, I'm afraid" said Kalinda.
"I'll find your food for you in a minute," she said.
"But first, I need to find my laptop..." she thought to herself.

After breakfast, Kalinda set about opening removal boxes labelled with her name. There were boxes everywhere! By lunchtime, she had still not found her laptop and was hot, tired and frustrated.
"Why don't you have a break and take Mabel for a walk?" Mum said.
"It will clear your head."

Kalinda fetched Mabel's lead and called for her.
"Mabel, walkies!" She stood by the front door and waited for her to come.
"Where is that dog?" she thought impatiently as she went to search for her.
"Mabel, walkies... Mabel! Mabel... Where are you?" Kalinda called out. Kalinda went from room to room, searching for her dog but there was no sign of her.

"Mabel, TREAT! TREAT! Do you want your TREAT?" Kalinda knew these were the magic words that would usually bring Mabel out of any hiding place but there was still no sign of her.
"That's strange..." She thought. Mum didn't know where she was either!
"Maybe she got out?" Mum said. Now Kalinda was really worried. All thoughts of her laptop had disappeared.
