In the year 1620 the Mayflower ship left England to go to the New World or what we call North America today.
The Mayflower had about 102 passengers and 30 crew members working and controlling the ship!
The passengers were called Pilgrims. It took the Mayflower around 10 long weeks to get to America.
On November 21st the Pilgrims reached Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

The Pilgrims came to America to practice their religion freely or without getting into trouble. Pilgrims were Puritans.

Once the Pilgrims landed, they made Plymouth Colony. This colony was one of the first created.

Landing in late November was not what they wanted. They wished to land in October, before winter started.

With the really cold winter starting, only half of the Pilgrims survived. 53 Pilgrims lived because of a Native American tribe's help.
Native Americans from the Wampanoag tribe taught the pilgrims how to plant food and hunt. If it were not for the Native Americans the Pilgrims would have not survived.
