One sunny afternoon, Kat was playing with her friends in her yard.

Suddenly, her mom poked her head outside the door. “Kat can you clean up your room, please?” her mom said.

“Okay, Mom,” Kat said. “Sorry, guys," she said to her friends, "I have to go, but I’ll be right back."

When she went inside, Kat looked around her room and saw that it was a huge mess!

Then she had a wonderful idea. She could stuff it all in her closet.

Three minutes later…

Kat called to her mom, “My room is clean!”

When her mom walked into the room, a look of shock flooded her face. “You're done already?" her mom asked.

”Yes, I cleaned everything up,” she lied confidently. "Can I go play now?”

“Okay, but get your jacket out of your closet. It’s getting cold outside,” her mom said.

"Okay,” Kat said nervously.

“Why did I lie?” Kat thought to herself, slowly walking towards her closet.
