Shadow is an indoor kitty who lives with his mom. Shadow sees his mom going outside every day.

Shadow has always wanted to go outide. But his mom won't let him. Shadow wants to know what it's like out there. To see more than just out the window.

One day Shadow's mom accidentally left the front door open. Shadow finally has his chance to explore outside!

Shadow walked down a stone path and kept walking until he sees a squirrel sitting on a stump.

"Hello!" Said Shadow, sitting next to the stump. "My name is Shadow. What's your name?" 

The Squirrel twitches her tail and wiggles her nose. "Hi Shadow, my name is Sara. I have never seen you here before."

"I live inside a house with my mom. This is my first time outside." Shadow said.

Sara smiles. "Oh well, if this is your first time outside, you must be very careful. There are many scary things you need to look out for."

Shadow looked around him, only seeing grass and trees. Nothing scary. "What is scary outside?" Shadow asked. 

"Do you see that big road down there?" Sara points. "Yes." Said Shadow. "Well, there are big cars that go fast. You should be very careful if you go near it. The cars may not see you, and if they hit you, you can get hurt."  Sara said squeezing the acorn tighter to her chest.

Shadow gulps nervously as he sees a big car drive by. "Ok, I won't go near the road then. Thank you for telling me." Sara smiles and runs up a tree.

"Bye, Shadow. Have fun outside and be careful." Shadow waves back and go back down the stone path.
