I dedicate this book to my parents who showed me the responsibility of having a pet.

I was going home from school and saw a dog playing with a ball on the side of the road. I picked it up and took it home with me.

When I got home, my mom was planting some flowers in my front yard. My mom asked, "Why is there a dog here? They take a lot of responsibility."

"You can keep him, but you have to take care of him," My mom said. "Yay! Thank you, mom!," I exclaimed. My mom then asked, "What's his name?" I named the dog Dan. I loved Dan very much.

I told my friend from school, Emily, about Dan. She wants to meet the dog. "You can meet him tomorrow after school," I said. Emily was so happy.

Before I went to bed, I gave Dan a bath so he would smell clean. I did not want him to smell bad.

The next day, I woke up, and Dan was not in bed. I saw paw tracks leaving my room and followed them.

The tracks went through the kitchen where mud was on the counter. I knew my mom would be mad if I didn't clean it up, so I grabbed the soap to clean up.
