who have made my greatest dream of writing a book come true:
My teachers Mr. Dermot, Miss Sara, Miss Pilar, and Miss Lucy
have helped me a lot and given me great ideas.
I would like to thank my classmates for their awesome illustrations
and their supportive attitude, as well.
Finally, the people I would like to thank the most are my parents,
who have encouraged me to write this story.

Once upon a time, in a small town called Ethan, located in
South Dakota, there lived a young boy called Tom. Tom wasn’t
just any lad, he was a special lad indeed. He was the only kid
in town who was afraid of water. At swimming lessons, his
classmates teased him for his fear of water and even his
teachers laughed at him.

He had a pretty miserable life, until one day, something
totally unexpected happened. As he was walking in the
park observing the landscape, he spotted a little fish
jumping up and down in a lake close to the park. It was
shouting out his name, “Tom! Tom!”

Tom looked confused. At first he
thought he was dreaming, but after
pinching himself twice and still seeing
the fish, he realized that in front of
him there was an actual talking fish!
They met and chatted for a while and
before you knew it, they became
friends.
Every day, Tom would go visit his
friend the fish and they would discuss
different things.

Every time they talked, the fish
would ask Tom the same question,
“Are you going to try to get in the
water”? And every time he got the
same answer, “No”.

Finally, one day, Tom was
ready to face his fear. He
showed up at the lake with
his brand new bathing suit.
He was going to do it,
certainly. But just as he was
about to dive in, he suddenly
panicked and fell in the
water!

His companion, the fish, immediately cried for help to
Tom’s classmates. They came and pulled him out.
The next day, already recovered from his panic attack,
Tom went over to the lake and delivered some bad news
to the fish. “We cannot be friends any more,” he said.
“Why?” asked the fish. “Because I’m too afraid of water
to even go near it. I'm sorry,” Tom said sadly. He was
talking to the fish from the park.
Even though the fish tried to change his mind, it was no
use. He wasn’t going back in the water.

But one day, at six o’clock in the afternoon, as Tom
walked through the park, he observed the lake and he
spotted a man who was fishing. The man had caught a
fish. The second he pulled the fish out, Tom realized it
was his friend the fish!!
