Reading is a tool in that one gets information from written letters and including numbers. Recognition of words is the most basic level, but understanding what we read is the main score of reading. In this book, I used story problems to help children who are also struggling with solving word problems in Mathematics.

                   Going Early To School

We woke up early at 4:30 in the morning to be in school at 6:00 a.m. We need 20 minutes to take a bath, 6 minutes and 30 seconds to brush our teeth. It takes us 22 minutes and 30 seconds to get our clothes on. We travel by car for 25 minutes to school. Do we have enough time? By how many minutes?

Hi! I'm Lex. I have a story problem for you to solve. I multiplied the number of my shirts, pair of pants, and pair of socks, and the product is 140. If I have 7 shirts and 5 pairs of pants, how many pairs of socks do I have?

                      Sam's Clothes

Sam had 42 shirts of 4 kinds; sports, casual, formal, and school uniform. How many shirts are in the formal if there are 12 in sports,15 in casual, and 5 in school uniform? What has more in number, the casual or the formal? By how many?

                                Sharing Time

It’s time to share and tell. I bring 24 Tamarind candies. One for everybody in the class. Our teacher came with 26 more candies she takes 2 for herself and the remaining were given to us equally. Could everybody have 2 candies, including my teacher? If so, what explanation can you give?
