One day there was a beautiful little girl named Scarlet. Scarlet didn't like school because the other kids were very mean to her. Every day during recess she would go into the woods, away from the other kids to read. To read a wonderful story about a beautiful princess, Rose,  who became a brave knight. Scarlet wanted to be just like her, beautiful and brave.

But today was different, instead of her reading spot being empty there were fairies! Confused she asked, "who are you?" 

And the fairies answered cheerfully. "We are the whisps! We help little girls like you become brave again!" 

Scarlet was excited to hear such amazing news! All during recess they played and talked, but once the bell rang she had to go back to school! 

"Goodbye, whisps!" She called out as she ran. 

Little did she know she left her book on the log. 

The next day was a very bad day for Scarlet. Her classmates were extra mean to her and put gum in poor Scarlet's hair!

Oh no!

When the bell for recess rang she ran straight to the woods where her fairy friends were. She cried and cried

"I'm ugly! They were right! I'll never be brave like the princess in my book!" The poor fairies weren't sure what to do until one fairy flew up and said gently. "What makes you think such a thing Scarlet? I think you are just like princess Rose, beautiful and brave!" Scarlet didn't agree, "We are nothing alike! She is beautiful, and I am just... different." Scarlet lowered her head.
