There lived a pair of star-crossed
lovers
Named Juliet and Romeo

In that day, there was no peace
For their families were sworn
foes
Montagues and Capulets did
not get along
Until the year Juliet met
Romeo

A party was being held that
night
Of course with a lavish feast
Eating and laughing and
dancing like such
Could sweep anyone off their
feet

But this party was forbidden to Montagues, was
hidden
For only Capulets could attend this most
frivolous affair
But Romeo, with face disguised, crashed the
party, ill-advised
For it was most certainly unwise, unwise to
attend without due care
His life would be changed forever, as he
attended without care
He knew not who waited there

Across the vast and noisy
ballroom
Romeo spotted Juliet
They fell in love immediately
And likewise, their fate was
set

They married the very next day
For their love could not very well wait
But while she awaited her husband
with love
Her cousin, Tybalt, awaited with hate

By attending the prior day’s festivities
Romeo had crossed the line
Tybalt had a short temper, you see
And revenge must be payed in time

Romeo attempted to keep the
peace
But a fight broke out, to his
dismay
And fighting Tybalt, was not
him, but his friend
And that friend, Mercutio, was
slain

To avenge the death of his
beloved best friend
Romeo fought Tybalt, and in
the end
Tybalt was killed by Romeo’s
hand
Now two men were dead, in a
fight unplanned

The Prince of this land had earlier said,

is not allowed."

And so, much to the two
lovers’ woe
Romeo was banished from
this town

With Romeo gone, Juliet became
sad
But her parents had mistaken this
grief
They figured she was upset over
her cousin’s death
And thought a marriage would
bring relief
