Jessie loves animals! He loves to go outside and see what kind of animals he can spot in the wild. He has always wanted to go to the zoo. So, one day for his 6th birthday his mom takes him and his little sister Zoe to the zoo.

Animal Exhibits

When he arrives at the zoo, the worker gives Jessie and his family a bracelet to wear around the zoo and see the animals. He gets inside and sees so many different animals. Jessie first wants to go and look at the kangaroos. He starts walking, with his mom and sister, to the kangaroo exhibit.

When Jessie sees the kangaroos, he wants to count to see how many there are.
How many big kangaroos does Jessie see?

Jessie leaves and then walks over to the hippos. Some of the hippos are on land and some are swimming. Jessie first sees 3 hippos on land and then one of them leaves to go for a swim. How many hippos are there on the land now?

Jessie sees his favorite animal. A giraffe! He thinks their long necks are so cool. Can you count to see how many legs a giraffe has? Jessie sees 2 giraffes at the exhibit. How many total legs are there?

Jessie is so happy that he has seen so many animals. However, he looks down and sees that his bracelet is missing! How is he going to find his bracelet? Jessie needs to retrace his steps to find where he last had the bracelet.

Where did my bracelet go?
Jessie first goes back to the hippo exhibit. He looks around and doesn’t find the bracelet, but he notices that there are more hippos swimming in the water. When Jessie saw the hippos the first time, he saw 2 hippos on land and 2 swimming in the water. Now Jessie sees 1 on land and 3 hippos swimming. How many more hippos are swimming than before?

After seeing the hippos, Jessie goes back to the kangaroos. He looks around but doesn’t see his bracelet. His mom tells him that they will find it later. They keep walking around and see all the animals.
