Kaleigh loved to relax in the sun, listening to the soothing sounds of the water around her. Life as a mermaid was so much fun, swimming around the ocean, singing and doing summersaults in the water. The sun shining on her when she laid on her little pink plastic raft was heavenly and helped her relax. She loved being a mermaid. There was so much to explore and so much to do that made her happy.

Every day was a new adventure for her;  she even had lots of animal friends who loved to swim with her and even raced her just for fun.  Myles, her little merbrother would talk, laugh, and have all kinds of fun with Kaleigh during the day. They'd explore, swimming all around the ocean to find new adventures and at night they'd go home to be with their mermommy and merdaddy.

One day Kaleigh was out swimming by herself when she heard a little cry.  She stopped and looked around but couldn't find where the sound was coming from. She listened very carefully and followed the sound until she came to a pile of jagged rocks with seamoss on them.  As she got closer, Kaleigh peeked into the rocks and saw  a baby seal hiding, shivering because he was afraid.  She moved slowly towards him to not frighten him. "Hi, I'm Kaleigh..are you ok?" she asked.

"Please don't hurt me", the little seal said to Kaleigh. "I already hurt my flipper, I swam too close to the surface and a boat went past and it hit my flipper."

Kaleigh looked at the seal and spoke softly, "I won't hurt you, but I can help you...I'll take you to our house and you can heal there.  But what about your Mommy and Daddy? Won't they worry about you?"

The little seal looked at Kaleigh, then nodded, "I got lost a long time ago and can't find them."
