Chapter 1 Cookies start
Hi my name is Nancy and this is my puppy Cookie. I heard you have come to hear all about Cookies journey. Well I shouldn't keep you waiting. I shall carry on now. Cookie was born quite small, smaller then the rest of the litter. Although she was tiny from the start she was mighty. I went to the puppy store to find a dog. I actually remember this date quite well. November 26, 1946. I was looking up and down the aisles but I didn`t find my perfect dog. I ask the clerk and tell him I want a calm and sweet puppy. He showed me to the labor Dore but it was not my type.
Then he showed me to the pugs "sigh". They were so active I almost fell to the ground. "Sir I said I was looking for a calm and sweet puppy not some hyperactive pug." " Oh right I'm so sorry Ms." " I have one more dog that may work for you." " This is Cookie. We got him from a breeder down in the UK and brought him all the way here to the US." Later that night I thought about Cookie. "Should I get him or not?" The next morning I went into the pet store and bought Cookie his food and some toys for him. I showed him my house. It seems as if it was only months ago.
Cookie settled in as if she had a family before. Of course at the time I was only 50 years old so I took him to the dog park every Saturday, Mondays and, Wednesdays but everyday when we got home he just wanted to play some more.
Chapter 2 Cookies time to shine
December 18, 1946... Today was the day I made Cookie a star. I told cookie he was gonna be in a dog show. "ruff "said Cookie confused. I said lets get a move on. I put on a very fancy caller for Cookie. And the judges checked Cookies mouth and her tail. She was only 7 months old but she could do it. "Next up number 116". That was Cookies number. We walk onto the grass and we did perfect. Four hours later of a dog show and we won for hunting dogs. Cookie didn`t quite understand what was going on but I could tell when he got his award he was very proud.
The second dog show Cookie didn't feel the urge to go so we didn't win but I feel she did her best but I cant promise that. Her 3rd one ended so well we got on the news. People also came to our house to interview Cookie and me. January 1, 1947 This was one of Cookies last dog shows we trained so hard for this and nothing could go wrong. I drove up to the parking lot I got Cookie dressed up for the show. I got his fur nice and shiny his claws trimmed and his collar sparkling. As soon as we heard number 242 we walked onto the field to strut Cookies stuff. It was going fantastic.
Cookie was walking all perfect until he tripped on a hard dog bone. "Ruff ruff" Cookie said whimpering on the ground. "Cookie are you ok" unfortunately Cookie got a fracture in his left leg. But I put a bad review on that dog show and almost got them sued. Luckily Cookies leg healed really quickly it was a miracle! After that we did a few more dog shows. We won some of them and lost some of them but no matter how we did I knew Cookie was a miracle worker. After all the shows we also always stopped at Toms pet cookie factory to get Cookie a treat.
February 8 1947... Cookie decided he wanted to spend a lot of his time at home playing with toys while I went to work. Often news reporters would show up but Cookie didn`t mind having to be on a camera he didn`t love it but he was ok with it he knew it was his job for now. Thanks to all Cookies hard work I was able to buy us a nice home and Cookie everything he could want. "Cookie want to get a treat its Saturday"? "Ruff" he said excitedly. We hoped in the car. "Ruff ruff ruff ruff ruff" Cookie said. Cookie ran after a squirrel caring something that looked a lot like check.
Behind the tree that the squirrel was climbing up there was a man looking at the squirrel and took the check from the squirrel and ran off. I new I needed to get to the police so I drove there with Cookie and reported this crime. "Mam what you emergency"? "There was a strange man that ran off with a check. He was like 7 feet tall with brown hair and ran off near the park." After that we got a cookie for Cookie. And went back home. There were reporters outside our door but I made them leave. I rewarded Cookie for his very brave deed. "Cookie you really are a miracle".
chapter 3 Cookies big brake
It was a nice warm February afternoon when I heard Cookie barking at the door crazily I said "Cookie what's the matter you never do this"? I opened the door and there was a pizza outside "It must be from one of the neighbors how nice " I exclaimed! I ate some of the pizza and saved it for some more nights but I finally decided to give it to another neighbor. "Passing around the joy" I said happily I asked Cookie to go give this to Mr. Rob he loved pizza. When I sent Cookie off I knew Cookie knew Mr. Rob very well.
But sometimes things your expecting to go just normally like every other day just don't happen the way you want. 2:00 pm I forgot the animal control goes across all the neighborhoods in Renton Seattle Washington. Cookie was walking across the street I taught him to look before he crossed but just when he was crossing the animal control found him. They tried knocking on my door but since I never answered they decided to take Cookie to the shelter but my ears weren't like they used to be. So Mr. Rob saw this all happen and decided to follow them.
And then the next hour I was scared to death because I didn't know were Cookie was. I nocked on Mr. Robs door but he didn't answer because he was trying to rescue Cookie for me. He had to go chase down the animal control for an hour down the highway. An hour later Mr. Rob showed up at my door with Cookie I was so relived and I gave him 100 dollars for finding my sweet pup. Mr. Rob still got his pizza he said it was amazing. And me and Cookie just relaxed the whole night in our comfy recliner.
The next cold February morning I took Cookie to my office we took a short little ride on the bus many people recognized us from the dog shows. But Cookie didn't mind. I took Cookie because Cookie was still a little frightened about the crazy night we had last night with the animal control and everything. He needed a little extra of us time which honestly made me pretty happy because I love hanging out with Cookie. But he was a little distracting he was only 9 months old though so I understood. Also what I do for a job is I work for a bank I manage money.
After my long day at work I relaxed and fell right asleep not even noticing that something from my house was stolen. Cookie noticed this right away and sniffed the books and rugs and ran outside the slightly opened back door and he ran as fast as he could and caught the man that had all of mine and Cookie dog show awards. Cookie bit him on the neck until Mr. Rob called the police and 5 minutes later the cops arrived at my front door with Cookie and the awards they told me everything that happened. And Cookie got lots of extra treats that night.

Where did Cookie go?
April, 19... On this sad, sad day that I remember ... Oh never mind let me get to the point. This was the day me and Cookie were taking a walk down the lovely garden near our house. The birds were singing their sweet tunes and the smell of the wonderful flowers blooming was just oh so delightful. The sounds of the horse drawn carriages was a tune in my ear. As cookie pranced happily down the sidewalk, I saw a store that said, "Grand opening"! "Yorkies pet supplies store, free dog treats to first 10 shoppers" My eyes opened.
Me and Cookie looked each other in the eye I knew we had to go. "Well,", I said. "You do need a new dog bed.". We waited for the walk sign to appear, and we crossed the road as quickly as I could go Cookie beat me there. When we got in it looked beautiful with the smells of the burning candle and the plant decorations it really smelled new and refreshing. "Hello, my name is Luna do you need any help today"? "Well, we are looking for a new dog bed". "Alright" Luna said "Let me lead you to them". As we walked over there, I saw so many dog beds it was crazy.
I let Cookie pick out her own dog bed, she really liked one with a bunch of red dog prints on it with a black background. I thought it was cute too. When we went up to the register to pay, we saw 4 people in line in front. "Uh OH" I said with fear. "I hope we get those dog treats you deserve them". Just like that the line went pretty quickly. When we got up to pay we were very lucky we were the second to last people to get the dog treats. I let Cookie pick them out he picked the cheese flavored one. I wondered how it tasted but I wasn't going to eat it. When we left, we went through the door into a giant crowd of people.
Chapter 5 The view of Cookie
Just then we got separated I started looking around desperately trying to find my human. Sniffing around at the trash on the littered ground I started to worry. Nancy with the white long hair didn't find me. There were tons of people some tall some tiny and some that just looked and stared at me. I started to run and Panic. I ran right onto the sidewalk of the blaring sound of the cars that drove by. I didn't see Nancy I think that she left me. Although I think she would never want to leave me, maybe she just thought I was with her when she left. I should go back home and see if I can get back in.
As I am walking on I am seeing birds singing and squirrels fighting over leaves that have fallen off of the big brown sycamore tree. As I trotted along, I saw someone stealing something from a locker in the park. I was deciding if I should go help but I decided too not. That guy looks really big and intimidating, I think. Although I hope that the person gets there stuff back from the dude and maybe gets to the police about this. Just as I was heading over to the mailbox just in front of me I see a big car come by that says
animal control! As I run as quickly as I can as my owner said if I ever get lost never go to an animal control car, they start chasing me down. But just as I sat down for a rest, they had come up to me and put me on a very itchy rope lead. I scratch my head hoping they will be kind enough to let me go as I am tiny and not very tough. They throw me into the car and in there I see 2 cats and 3 other dogs. None of them looked exited nor scared. I didn't know where they were taking us to as I had never been to an animal shelter. I tried to make friends with them, but they sat there and made a grumpy face. I just sat there and pouted. When I arrived with the 5 other animals,
I had no idea what to do, I started to cry. As they took me by the itchy rope lead, they put me in a small room with 3 other dogs. They aren't nice but not mean. As I sit in a corner on a hard dog bed one of them comes over to me and says, "Did you get found on the streets too"? "Yes" I say. As she sits there down by me, I see the sad look on her face. I ask, "what happened". "Oh, it's just that I was at my home one day when my owner who adopted me threw me out of the house at only 3 months old, now I'm 2-year-old and I've had no one that wants to adopt me, I'm just a dirty looking Yorkshire terrier." I didn't think she looked bad I mean maybe a little worn down but not bad.
But hearing her sad story made me think of Nancy. Oh, how I hope she comes back for me. I spent a couple of nights talking to the Yorkshire I didn't ask her name, but I knew she was one of the nicest dogs. On May 21st as I am sitting here on the hard stone floor of the cage, I have nothing to do but wonder when will Nancy come back for me? I wish someone would at least come here and adopt me and bring me back to my house. Just as I laid down, I heard the door open although I have heard this sound many times something just felt different. As I am hearing footsteps coming closer and closer, I wonder if it was Nancy coming back for me.
Although I was wrong it was just a police officer walking over to our cage. She looked plenty nice with her long brown hair tied up in a nice, neat bun. I almost kind of recognized her from the police station Nancy had taken me to when we reported a crime.
Chapter 6 Officer Chayne
"You know I heard that this little pup that came with the older woman to the police station reporting a crime". "I want to find him because if we do he could be the next police dog as K9 Bailey is getting old" she said as she talked to officer Pete. As I am walking down the row of dogs, I don't see him. But just then I hear a dog whine and I look over it was Cookies whine! After I fill out the adoption application, I put Cookie in my car and take him to the police station. Just at this point I knew the training has begun.
Chapter 7 Cookies training
On June 25 the training had begun first we jumped over some fences I didn't exactly know why we had to do this but at least I was used to it with the dog shows. Next, they gave me something to smell it smelt really gross like a old chew stick that had been in 10 dogs stinky mouths. I didn't know why I had to smell it I thought they were trying to torture me or something, but I figured the police people seemed nice enough to not torture dogs. They told me to sniff for something that smelt like that I didn't quite understand but I tried I ended finding nothing.
As I said I didn't know why I had to look for something that smelled that bad or why this skill was important. On my third day of training, I finally found something that looked very odd it looked like a circle ball thing with a string attached to it. I wondered if it was a chew toy but I didn't want to get scolded for chewing on it so I didn't. I learned that it was something called a boom (bomb) and that it explodes and if I see one on a mission, I must bark a special bark. To be honest I never knew this was a bark since I learned it, and it happens to be my favorite.
The next day we work on finding booms in cupboards I found 6/10 booms, so I say I did pretty good myself as a starter. Just at the time 7:00 pm I lay down in bed and have a memory that I hadn't had since I got lost it was the memory of Nancy and how she hadn't come back for me. Honestly, I wondered if she had never noticed that I was gone. After all her memory was fading but I don't think she could have been that oblivious. I just thought that I'd never find her again after all now I have a new job to serve as a police dog.
