Once upon a time in New York City, lived a
young little girl named Alice.

Alice lived with her father in an old,
shabby, beaten down shack. Her father
was a musician trying to make a debut.
One day, Alice’s father says “You are going
to go into the city tomorrow and sell my
CD’s whether you like it or not, and if you
don’t sell enough CD’s, then there will be
serious consequences.” Never being strong
enough to speak up, Alice answers with a
quiet, “Yes, sir”.

The next day, Alice grabs her father’s
CD’s and heads out into the city. Sitting on
the corner of New York in the cold winter
breeze, Alice is passed by tons of
pedestrians only giving her bad looks due
to her horrid outfit, and her messy hair.
Not one CD was sold that whole day.

That night as Alice walks back home, she is only
greeted with screams and yells by her father because
she didn’t sell enough CD’s. “You will go back into the
city, and sell those CD’s until there are no more left”,
says her father the next day. Obeying her father, Alice
timidly walks out the door, into the city, and onto the
brick steps of the city. As thousands of people walk by,
not one person buys a CD from Alice. Alice cries and
cries because she knows that if she doesn’t sell enough
CD’s, her father will beat her. Alice only wishes her
mother were with her, because her mother was the
only person who really loved her.

As Alice starts to cry, a man walks by and stops in
front of her. The man says in proper British accent,
“Little girl, why are you crying”? Alice looks up and
says, “No reason, I am just a little cold”. The man
takes off his jacket and wraps it around Alice’s
cold, tender arms. A little smile appears on Alice’s
face. “What is your name?” says the man. “Umm,
my name is Alice”, says Alice meekly. “Well, my
name is Stephen, and I would like to buy one of
your CD’s, if you will.” “Of course”, says Alice.
While Stephen and Alice exchange money and
CD’s, everyone passing by, looks at them. “Well,
good day and stay warm sweet Alice”, says
Stephen.
