" IT'S NIGHT! "
It was starting to get dark. We've been walking for 4 hourse now.
- We need a place to stay for the night. - I said.
- We should find a cave or something. - said Luka.
- There aren't much caves here and building a fort isn't the best idea... - said John.
- Then we have to find a cave no matter what. - said Luka - I say go north.
- That's were we're going right now. - I said looking at the compass.
- Oh.
- Isn't there a cave on that hill over there?! - said Luka pointing on a hill on the left.
- I think so.. - I said.
- Let's go see. - said John.
We went in it's direction. It wasn't a cave, it was an old rock shelter. So that's kinda like a cave, but super small with only an entrance, y'know? Look it up.
The only problem was that the hill was very steep, muddy, big, slippery and rocky. - I'd manage to climb it, even though it would be very hard and would take a long time. - I thought. - But what about John?
I underestimated the old man.
He could climb it, I couldn't.
- C'mon, you can do it! - shouted Luka who climbed it in less than 2 minutes.
- Even I could do it! - yelled Old man John.
- It's too slippery! - I snapped.
- Do you want me to help you? - asked Luka.
I did not respond and jumped on the hill, grabbing on some rock. I climbed and climbed. I got deja vu - this was like climbing that tree to my portal. If I haven't had to go through all that climbing, this would much harder.
As I was near the top, John and Luka reached out their hands. I grabbed them and they pulled me up.
- Phew. - I panted.
- Should we gather sticks for the fire? - I asked.
- It's pretty bright. The moon is huge. - said John.
- Yeah, but we should warm up. - I said.
- Luka, go gather some sticks. - said John.
- What? Why me?!
- Becase you're young and energetic. Now go! - answered Old man John.
- Fine. - mumbled Luka.
- You know he's only three years younger than me, right? - I said as Luka left.
- He is?
- Yeah.
We headed to the shelter and sat down.
- It's day now in our world. - I said looking outside.
- Yep. My family would be worried... - said John.
- I haven't talked to my parents since I turned 18. - I said.
- Oh..
We just sat there and looked at the gorgeos forest shining in the moonlight.
- Tell me more about your family. - I said looking at John.
- Well. - he said as he sat more comfortably. - I have an ex wife, a beautiful daughter who is now married and has a child. I really love my family.
- Do you have any siblings?
...
- I used to have an older brother. He was also happily married. But him and his wife died in an airplane crash. I had to take care of his daughter, but we weren't really close. One day when she was sixteen she just disapeared... I never saw her again.
- I-I'm sorry... What was her name?
- Mindy. She was always so mature and brave. She was a very nice girl.
- She sounds really nice. I think she'd be friends with my sister.
- You have a sister?
- Her name was Jessica. She was my best and only friend. She was very full of herself, that's what made so special. She wasn't like anyone else. She was cheerfull and everyone loved her.
- .. Actually she sounds exactly like your friend Luka. - said John.
-.. Didn't realise that. - I said.
We both laughed.
- So, where is she now? - he asked.
-... Heaven, hopefully. - I said.
- ..Ah. Someone that you love passing away is truely the worst feeling...
I never talked to anyone about Jessica. I berely talked to people at all. That conversation really made me feel something. I was relieved that I talked to someone about it. It felt good.
