John had a plan. He was going to 

pretend to be injured to get out of 

having to play dodge ball.

He put a fake scar on himself that he 

bought off the secret market at his 

school. 

It was supposedly real, but who knows.

It sure looked and felt real.    

John's cheap scar came off. The 

nurse saw and knew he was 

lying. He was forced to go back 

and play dodge ball. He was very 

disappointed his plan didn't work, 

and that he wasted so much 

money on a cheap scar.  

John feared this would happen to 

him when he played dodge ball. A 

bunch of other kids wanted to do 

this to John. He was angry and 

confused that a bunch of random 

kids, whom he has never even 

met before, wanted to hit him 

with dodge balls. 

Unlike everyone else, John didn't 

care about winning.   

He just wanted to avoid being hit 

by the ball. 

He had a friend who got hit with a 

dodge ball, and got all his teeth 

knocked out. His teeth got all over 

John's face, and he's been scared 

of dodge balls ever since.
