who could not find anything awesome to do.

advised their wise mother.
“That’s BORING!”, they grumbled, one after another.

“You should go do your homework”, advised their wise
mother.
“That’s BORING!”, they grumbled, one after another.
“I know what you need…of course, now I see! You need a
lesson about energy**!”
“Ugh!” Henry groaned, “chemistry isn’t fun!” “Oh children”,
said mother, “we haven’t even begun!”
(**Chemistry Fact: Energy may be defined as the ability to do
work. It is a scalar physical quantity. Although energy is
conserved, there are many different types of energy, such as
kinetic energy, potential energy, light, sound, and nuclear
energy. Benefits: have hot water for bathing, can use electronic
gadgets, help in the middle of communication and lighting)

First, Mother took them to play in the water. “But
how is this motion?” asked her little daughter.
“When you swim, little Sue, you move and feel
free…and this is called kinetic energy!”
( Definition: Kinetic energy is the energy an object possesses
due to its motion. An object of mass m moving at velocity v
hás a kinetic energy. Benefits: The main advantage of kinetic
energy is that it is easily available (all that is needed is
motion and energy). Kinetic energy also doesn’t pollute the
environment. The main disadvantage of kinetic energy is that
it is unpredictable and inconsistent. The equipment used to
harness this energy is also more expensive than that used to
harness other forms of energy.)

Next, mother took them to their lovely park, where
monkey bars stood tall beneath a big arc.
As Henry was hanging from the little bars, his happy
eyes sparkled like two shining stars.
“Just now” said his mother, “you held energy. That kind
is potential**, now don’t you agree?”
“But I wasn’t moving, not even a toe.” “Think how far
you’d have gone if you would’ve let go.”
(Chemistry Fact: **Potential energy is the stored energy of
position possessed by an object. Benefits: Can be made or
created very easily and transformed easily as well. Since it is
stored energy, it can be transferred to kinetic energy easily.)

Mother then took them to a roller coaster. “Oh look!”
exclaimed Suzie “It’s just like the poster!”
“While you ride, think of what you have learned” said
her brother. “Energy changes from one form to
another.
“That’s right” said his mother. “It’s a guarantee. The
law of conservation of energy**.”
( Chemistry Fact: **Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but
can be changed from one form to another. Example #1: A monkey
falling off a tree. If the monkey is sitting down eating a banana on
the highest branch, he has Potential energy. If the monkey
reaches for another banana and he slips off of the branch, his
potential energy is now being converted into kinetic energy.
Example #2: Water falls from the sky, converting potential energy
to kinetic energy. )

Then Sue said, “I just wanna go on the ride”
“I’ll explain as we go, sis” her brother replied.
“When we’re on our way up it’s kinetic, you
see. At the top it becomes potential energy.
As we go down the hill, it’s kinetic once
more. Wow, Sue, this actually isn’t a bore!”
“Bravo!” said his mother, “I’m proud of you
two!” But come, there is much more to learn
and to do.
