to do every war. I started my journey in the Civil War. My
line of work is simple. I help the bullets
complete their job. They depend on us, the guns. If we
successfully help them complete their job, we get promoted.

Civil War, James, who has

musket ball I helped was successful.
Many others were unsuccessful though.
After years of work, the day I become
promoted was here. I would now
become a rifled musket. I would retain
some of my current looks, but now I
would be better! My barrel was grooved
for greater accuracy, I now help minie
balls, and I now use percussion caps.

Grooves were important
in rifles, and percussion
made it faster to reload,
when the man who
could load faster was
the one who survived.

Today I lost James. It is the day
after I was promoted. It was
my fault. I failed to fire and the
other man was quicker. I will
never forgive myself. I thought
I would never lose him. It was
the last battle of the Civil War.
James almost made it through
the whole war.

Years went by without being used. I sat
in a box with other guns without being
used for a while. I felt alone without
James. I was eager to get another
partner to fill the emptiness, while not
wanting one because then I would forget
about James.

Everyone in the gun business was
promoted today. It was the 1880s and
new weapon mechanisms were invented.
One of the new ones was the magazine
loading. At the time it wasn't very liked.
But I became that and I liked it better.
The magazine was all new and I met
new bullets every time. The bullets were
stacked on top of one another and the
spring pushed the bullets up.

This helped tremendously because you could
get more shots off in one minute than a
musket.

I was not used very much up until World
War 1 until the end. It took a while for
people to take me out of boxes and I was
promoted again since there were upgrades
available. I was not used until the last year
of World War 1. But I finally became
automatic in the form of a Browning
Automatic Rifle. People were finally able to
make us guns fully automatic which was a
major advancement for our line of work. It
helped fire rate, but also caused your
chances of being hit to increase.

I met my new partner in the
last year of WW1 after my
latest promotion! I was
excited for this day.
