The Baby Panda

the baby Panda ventured out on a search for a midnight snack. Po’s
friends only ever wanted to eat candy, and he always went along
with it. Candy became his favorite thing to munch on. Mama Panda
Bear reprimanded him for his choice of food and would try and
make him eat bamboo every day. Po continued to refuse.

“But it makes me happy, Mama!” Po would protest. “All of the other panda cubs
eat tons of candy, I just want to fit in!”
“If Panda eats candy all the time, Panda will get sick and fail to grow.
Just because other cubs eat candy all the time does not mean you should as well!”
she would advise, but
Po never listened.

enjoying every sweet bite of his favorite snack. But just like Mama Panda
predicted, the lack of diversity in Po’s diet stopped him from growing into
the Panda he was meant to be. Po began to feel very sick...When his other
cub friends would invite him to play, he was too tired to go outside. When
Mama Panda wanted him to shimmy up a tree with her, he felt too
lethargic to go up.

“Mama, I feel sick. I can’t go outside with my
friends because I am too tired. I can’t climb up the tree
with you because I am too frail. I’m sorry, Mama. I
think you were right about eating too much candy…”

Po realized the truth of his mother’s words and
never ate candy in excess again.
