My family and I were going to the Outerbanks and I was so excited!

As soon as my parents said we were ready to leave my brother, sister and I ran to the car, ready to go!

The drive down there is around 12 hours so it took us two days to get there.

Since the ride to the Outer Banks is so long my parents decided we should stop and stay the night in Fredricksburg, Virginia so we didn't spend the whole day in the car. The first car ride was 6 hours.

When we got to Fredricksburg we unpacked and went out to dinner.
After that, we went back to our hotel room and went to bed.

The next morning we woke up early and got back on the road to get to the Outer Banks. That morning my stomach hurt a little bit, but I just assumed I was car sick.
After 6 more hours of being in the car, we finally arrived at the beach! When we got there, my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents were also just arriving and we all could not wait to go onto the beach.
Everyone ran into the house and picked their bedroom. My bedroom was on the first floor. My sister Addison, and cousins Ava and Quinlyn also stayed in the room with me.
We put on our bathing suits and waited for the parents.

My stomach still hurt a little but I was so excited to go to the beach that I wasn’t thinking anything was wrong with me. The parents were finally ready and we ran to the beach and went right into the ocean.

After we were in the ocean we got out and ate snacks, went for a walk, and played a paddle ball tournament.
Once everyone was starting to get a little tired, we all went back, washed off in the pool, took showers, and got ready for dinner.
My uncle made cheeseburgers for everyone and they were so good. After dinner was finished we played a bunch of games together and then went to bed.
The next morning I got out of my and walked up three sets of stairs because my bedroom was on the first floor and the kitchen was on the third floor.
When I got up to the kitchen I sat down on the couch to watch Disney Channel with my cousins, while my grandma was making pancakes for everyone and I could not wait because I was so hungry.

When she called everyone over to the table I realized I couldn’t feel my legs. I tried to stand up and get off the couch but I could not do it.

When I told my mom, she did not believe me and sarcastically said “Do you want me to take you to the hospital?” I answered with “yes” . My grandpa carried me down the three sets of stairs and put me in the car. Then my mom and I were off to the hospital to figure out what was wrong.

We got to the front desk to check in and then 30 minutes later I was wheeled into a back room by a nurse.

The first thing she had to do was take my blood. I had never done that and I was terrified. After 20 minutes of crying, I was brave enough to let them put the needle into my skin. Then we sat in the room and waited for the results to come.

The nurse came back and said the results showed I had Henoch Schönlein Purpura (HSP) or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever which could cause me to die in 3-5 days if not treated. After being told this, my mom and I were in a panic.
