Sarah was starting a new school for first 

grade, and she was a little excited and 

scared at the same time. She was afraid 

she would not make any new friends.

Sarah's mom said " Sarah it is going to be 

okay, you are going to make new friends 

just like you did in preschool".

When Sarah got up in the morning she was 

still very afraid. She said to her mom " 

Mom I don't feel good my belly hurts, and 

her mom said it's okay sweetie you are just 

nervous for your first day of school".

When Sarah and her mom got to Sarah's 

new school, Sarah was so nervous she said 

"Mom and you please come inside with me 

please mom? Her mom said yes Sarah I 

will come in with you for a little while".

When Sarah and her mom went into the 

school they meet her new teacher. She 

introduced herself,   said "hi my name is 

Mrs. Cogswell but you can call me Mrs.C". 

Sarah said "hi my name is Sarah".

Even though Mrs.C seemed very nice Sarah 

was still very scared, and she did not want 

her mom to leave.

Sarah and her mom were looking around 

the class room, Sarah's mom was pointing 

out all the cool things that she is going to 

learn in first grade.

Sarah was starting to relax a little and get 

excited by the stuff she was seeing. When 

she looked around a saw a little girl that 

looked really sad. Sarah said "mom look at 

that little girl she looks so sad, her mom 

said why don't you go over and introduce 

yourself"?

Sarah said okay, but she was so scared,  

she was wondering what if the little girl 

didn't like her? What if the little girl was 

mean?
