In a far away town called Guadalajara,
Mexico, there lived a little sweet, fun and
exciting girl named Sylvia. Sylvia loved her
town, but most of all, she loved the people
there and the fun food, festivals and carnivals
of her rich Mexican culture.

Sylvia and her family lived
in a nice little village.
Sylvia really enjoyed the
fact that she lived with a
large family, this was very
exciting for Sylvia.

Every morning Sylvia would awake to the
sounds of her grandmother and mother
making racket in the kitchen trying to prepare
breakfast for the family. By the time breakfast
is was ready, Sylvia's grandfather, father and
two little brothers would be headed back in the
house from working with the cattle out in the
fields.

One of the things that Sylvia like best about
her village, is that she gets to go and shop for
food with her mother. Sylvia's family is big on
their Mexican culture and traditions. They eat
all the traditional dishes such as, Enchilada,
Quesadillas, Mole poblano, chalupas and and
poblano. Horchata is one of Slyvia's favorite
drinks.
Sometimes Sylvia's mom let's her assist with
making Sylvia's favorite meal, Tacos.

Sylvia and her family participate in all of their
culture rich traditions and celebrations, but
one of Sylvia's favorite celebrations and one
that is celebrated around the world is El Dia De
Los Muertos, which is the "Day of the Dead".
El Dia De Los Muetos starts on October 31st
with a preparation and the celebrations take
place on Novemeber 1 and 2. El Dia De Los
Muetos is a time where the Mexican culture
celebrates their love ones who have passed
away.

El Dia De Los Muetos consist of preparing food

the spirits of the dead ancestors will take the
things with them into their next life. Family
members also bring gifts for their ancestors to
take with them as well.
Sylvia loves to dress up and in preparation for
the party. Sylvia gets to put on a very fancy
dress and her prettiest shoes. She even get to
ware a special pair of her mom's pearls.

Sylvia loves to see her grandparents put on
their fancy clothes and she really gets excited
to see them draped in their big jewels that
make the room sparkly and bright. Her
parents wear these bright red costumes made
our of the finest material with sequins and
beads on them. Sylvia also gets excited that
she is allowed to help her brothers get dress in
their nice suits; they like wearing hats on their
heads just like their grandfather and father.
