Eleanor just got home from school, and she 

was hungry!

She ran to the kitchen to ask her dad what 

the family was going to have for dinner.

Eleanor's dad had just returned from work, 

and was very tired.

He did not want to cook anything, so he made 

a suggestion.

Eleanor and her family rarely went to 

restaurants, so she was excited to try 

something new.

However, Eleanor still had some questions.

Where would they go?

What would they see when they got there?

You see, there were many different kinds of 

restaurants in Eleanor's American town.

There were fast food and drive-thru 

restaurants where Eleanor could order a 

hamburger and fries.

There were also plenty of sit down restaurants. 

At one of these restaurants,   Eleanor and her 

family would order food, and a waiter or 

waitress would bring it to them.

Some were Italian restaurants that served 

pasta and pizza.

There were even some places that only sold ice 

cream!

But today, Eleanor and her family decided to 

go to a sit down restaurant. It was a local 

restaurant called Tom's and it served all kinds 

of food!

So Eleanor and her family went to Tom's and 

sat at a table. The table was set with 

silverware like knives, forks, and spoons. 

There were even napkins and glasses!

There was also salt and pepper on the table.
