Milton was sitting in the corner
of the room with his small glass of red wine. He was only fourteen, but due to the occasion and his hertige, his parents allowed him to drink some. The boy was never fond of parties and dances, but they happened quite often.
Everyone was distracted by the music, so Milton decided to take advantage of that and quietly ran out of the room. He felt relieved after closing the door behind him. The music and talking quieted down. He took a moment to focuse on his breathing as his headache slowly dissapeared. Until he started hearing more music. It wasn't classical dancing music, it was light piano. And it wasn't coming from the door behind him either. The music was coming from the hidden room in the hall, where his mother kept her great grandfather's grand piano. No one has used it in years. Milton was a bit nervous to see who was playing the piano, since he thought all the geusts were in the ballroom. He headed to the room and slowly opened the door.
There he saw a girl, about his age.
She stopped playing and looked at the boy.
- Hello, there. - she said. - Are you Milton? Herman Antić 's one and only son?
- Y-Yes, that's me....And you are?
The girl moved towards Milton, which was when the boy realised she was in a wheelchair.
- My name is Josephine. - she took out her hand. - I've just moved here, my mom is you mother's new servant. Mrs. Antić was kind enough to invite us to the ball.
- Nice to meet you, Josephine. - Milton shook her hand, but he gave her the wrong one. - I didn't know you were coming.
- Well, here I am.
Josephine decided to ignore the boy's mistake.
The two looked at eachother for a moment while still holding hands.
- So...you play the piano? - Milton took away his hand and looked at his Great-Great Grandfather's instrument.
- Yes, but I'm still learning.
- You play very well. I've been learning for years and still can't play.
- You play as well?
- Y-Yeah I have a lot of tutors. I'm best at playing the violin though.
- Impressive.
Josephine had very light blonde hair and pale skin. She was wearing a long, white and slightly dirty dress.
Milton seemed shy, so she tried to start a fun topic.
- Any hobbies? - she asked.
-...No. Not really. Well, I do have one.
- Aaaand what is it?
- I-I like writing. And drawing.
- That's nice. What's it like? Your mother being such a big shot.
- It's okay I geuss. Just...normal?
- Huh.
