Early Life
Sean Williams was born on August 25, 1925 in Nashville, Tennessee. He is known for being a businessman, talented singer- songwriter and actor, also known as collecting the most beautiful rock in 1950. When he was just 2 months old, he saw the Mona Lisa painting, he eventually saw it again at age 11. In 1927, at age 2, he saw a plane jet for the first time, he said the word "Plane!". In 1931, he met his future Best friend Bobby Monroe and they became close friends. In 1933, Sean Williams saw an army of planes. At age 6, he started studying about Plane Jets. At age 7, he collected his first rock, it was a mini shell!
In 1934 while swimming at a beach, he saw a big thing underwater and did not know what it was and asked his family to see it and it was a shipwreck! They went to the research center and they said "we found a shipwreck underwater". One of the members said "it is actually called the SS Pacific, it was a battleship. Construction started for the ship in 1873 and finished in 1876, it made it's first voyage defeating the other side. In July 1877, The SS Pacific collided with another battleship and SS Pacific sank because it had a huge hole on the side of the ship where the front was. The other battleship The SS Atlantic did not sink, It was scrapped in 1929.
In October 1935, Sean and his family moved to Georgia because Sean's parents Katherine and Sean Williams Sr decided to raise their kids in Georgia because they thought Nashville was a too popular city. At age 11, Sean Williams started to learn about Orchestra Bands in school. At age 12, he started writing a book about the SS Pacific because Sean got interested in that battleship. The book was published in August 1938. He made a lot of money from the book and dropped out of school at age 13 because he received over $30,000 from the book, he paid for the insurance bills, house bills, health bills and others. Even Car Insurance. When Sean was 11 years old, he and his family & friends went to Mississippi. They invented an acting timer. It times how long you act for. Like if you're filming a movie and it will time how long you acted for and the total time! After he graduated from high school,
he attended a Junior college on a basketball scholarship. He later attended Settle University and Taylor University. Before Sean Williams became a musician, he first wanted to be a boxer and then a Basketball player and then he wanted to start writing songs.
Early music career (1939- 1942)
In 1939, Sean Williams started a music career playing the flute, trumpet, piano and guitar. He signed with United Records. His music genres were Jazz, Blues and Gospel. He released his first song called Blue Moon in Georgia. Sean Williams released his first studio album in October 1939 called Adventure Around The Globe. In 1940, he released his second studio album called The Pretty Flowers. In 1940, he formed his first orchestra band at age 15 called Sean Williams & His Orchestra (later renamed North Electric Lights Orchestra) The band released their first song called I Will See The World. They released their first album in late 1940 called Around The World.
Sean Williams & His Orchestra released 4 albums, but they disbanded in March 1947 because the TMSF Company stopped Sean Williams from making any new recordings, they were later reformed in 1956. The band was most popular in 1942 and became widely successful. Sean Williams released his third studio album in 1942 called Sean Williams & His Orchestra. He became a successful musician and songwriter.
Career success (1944- 1957)
In 1944, Sean Williams released his fourth studio album called Sean Williams gospel songs. He started touring in 1945 when he was 20. Sean Williams' army band did around 900 live performances. After Sean's army band disbanded in March 1947, he continued on his solo music career and released his fifth studio album called On A Plane. After that, he took a break from music for a little bit. A new album was released in 1951 called The Poem. It became a successful album. "Nightlight" and "Fly To The Moon" became successful songs. In October 1949, he formed his second orchestra band called United American Orchestra. The band released their first album in January 1950 called United American Orchestra. The band released three albums. Sean choose a new conductor of the band because Sean Williams had been a conductor of his old group for 6 in a half years. On October 31, 1953, the new conductor of the band died in a plane crash while on tour.
The band was left without management and soon disbanded on December 29, 1953. A new album was released a year after they disbanded called "A Portrait Of United American Orchestra". In 1953, Sean Williams joined a gospel music group called The Highway Singers. He wanted to show them how music was done because the band was just getting their start. They formed in 1950. He left the band in 1954 because they got the hang of it. Sean Williams released his seventh studio album called The Poem II in 1954. He recorded some songs with the famous guitarist Bobby Wilson on that album. Love Can Be Hard To Find (1954), Someday We'll Be Free From Prison (1955) and more. Bobby Wilson was a legendary guitarist and was part of a music duo called The Moonwalkers.
In 1956, Sean Williams released his eighth studio album called Traditions, a Christmas album. Bobby Wilson that was in The Moonwalkers, they broke up in 1961 for years, but later reformed in 1982.
Later career (1958- 1964)
Sean Williams released his ninth studio album in 1958 called Little Runway. That album became successful and the single Little Runway reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 67 weeks. It became his biggest hit. In 1960, he played in the pop band The Manquees because the pianist was diagnosed with tuberculosis and pianist Jim died shortly after catching the disease. Sean played in the band until they hired a new pianist. He killed it! He said it was a dream come true!
In 1960, Sean Williams released his 10th studio album called Ressuraction. He collaborated with James Cookie in some of the songs in the album. In 1961, he released his 11th studio album called Collaborations. It is an album where he collaborated with other musical artists. After recovering from his car accident that happened in 1962, he started touring again after two years of not touring due to he was on a break. He toured for a long time.
In 1963, Sean Williams released his 12th studio album called The Bravest Man on Earth. The first song in the album, Hearts Of Love was produced by Frank Shannon. Sean Williams recorded pop and soul song "Living in a car" with new group Living in a car. Sean's last concert was in October 1964.
Starting a record label & Air Force
After taking off from music for a little bit, He started his own record label, Earth Records on May 1, 1947. He made over $10,000 dollars a day! He bought himself a 1940 Aston Martin Atom, a concept car. He drove it everyday. His 1960 Cadillac was his everyday work car. Earth Records was a record label that became successful during the early 1950s. The first musician ever to sign with Earth Records was Nathan Jackson. He was an R&B singer, songwriter. Nathan Jackson was in a Musical Duo called The Jacksons before going solo in 1948. The Jacksons released three albums and 25 singles and broke up in 1947 to purse indivential solo careers.
Sean Williams record label became more popular. It won an award in 1956 for Most Successful Record Label. Williams said I'm so glad i started a record label, i revived so much money" he said in a 1961 interview with James Carson. Musicians started to sign with Earth Records in 1954. Sean Williams fought in World War II and he was an officer during World War II and after WW2. He entered the U.S Army in 1940 and attended boot camp at Madison Barracks, Watertown, New York.
Sean Williams opened a production company called Michael, named after a school teacher named Michael. The Manquees, Johnny Money, Eddie Wilson, Bobby Wilson and The Shannon Brothers signed with Earth Records in 1955. Sean Williams served time in the Air Force from 1950- 1954. He wrote a poem called Hey Potter in 1951, it is about a guy on a train from Shreveport, Louisiana back to his Dallas, Texas home. He turned it into a song in 1954.
Collecting the most beautiful rock
In the winter of 1950, Sean Williams was digging in the snow and found a golden rock. It was so beautiful. He added it to his rock collection. The rock was Golden and silver on the rock, those were the colors on the rock. After he died, the rock was kept in a package and was later sent to a rock museum. In 1953, Williams went to the desert and dug for 4 hours in total and found a green emerald. It was so legendary and rare. He knew he could not lose it and he added it to his rock collection. In 1957, when he was on a boat back to his home, he accidentally dropped it into the sea and never saw it again. He won an award in 1954 for collecting 2 most rarest rocks in the world.
Later years and death (1960- 1964)
In 1960, Sean Williams went to Alaska to mine for gold. This is when he started to record his next album. He won three Grammies. Sean was arrested in 1961 after an Air Range incident. In late 1961, he created a group called The Five Guys. They were a folk and country band with great harmony. They made six albums, broke up. In October of 1962 when heading to a business trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, California, he got into a car accident. It was a head- on collision with another driver and the
truck driver was drunk and on drugs while driving. Sean was driving his 1960 Cadillac when it happened because that was his work car. He had major injuries. His injuries were Broken arm, broken wrist, injured legs, broken back and internal bleeding. His friend Bobby Monroe and Sean's manager Nathan Jordison. Sean was still conscious when the ambulances arrived but he suffered from cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital. They managed to get to the hospital quickly in just 2 minutes. He was hospitalized for a month due to his injuries. He survived internal bleeding.
After recovering from the car accident, Sean Williams had surgery for his heart because it was damaged from the accident. The truck driver also survived with an ankle injury and other minor injuries and the truck driver James was arrested for drunk driving and on drugs while driving & almost killing a citizen. Bobby Monroe and Nathan Jordinson also survived with severe injuries. Sean Williams was really good at holding his breath and won a Grammy in 1963 for the longest time person ever held their breath. After that, Williams went on to be a magician.
he appeared in a bunch of movies after he became a magician and released two single songs in April 1964 called "Magic Trick" and "Two Trains Headin East". Williams appeared in a movie called Magic. He did a bunch of magic tricks in that movie! Sean Williams later performed Country songs. Williams released 5 new singles in August 1964, "San Francisco Here I Come", "World War II (Rerecorded Version)", "Sink The Bismarck", "So Many Lakes" and "Mercury". His song "San Francisco Here I Come" reached No. 19 on the pop charts and No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100.
He won a Grammy on December 1, 1964 for the song "San Francisco Here I Come" for Best Pop Recording. On December 4, 1964, he entered a contest and won $4,000! In 1960, he worked as a manager at a bank! He made $20,000 from working there! On December 11, 1964 just one day before he died, Sean Williams appeared on a game show called America's Universe. That game show was around from 1958- 1990s. The TV Show host Edward Armwards died in the mid 1990s from cancer and today, there is a new host for the show now! Steven Nicks is the new TV host for the show!
On America's Universe, Sean Williams won a game and received $30,000 and a brand new car! A Ford Consul Car! On December 12, 1964, Sean Williams died while doing a magic trick. He had to escape from handcuffs under the cold water in his 1961 Lincoln Continental, the handcuffs were hooked to the steering wheel, he was good at holding his breath but an hour later, he was dead. He could not hold his breath any more longer. In 1959, he tried an attempt to look for his rare green emerald that he lost, but failed. He almost drowned in 1959. He died of drowning. The 1961 Lincoln Continental is now at the Sean Williams Museum. That's the car he died in. Sean Williams 39 years old when he died. His body was sent by ambulance to the hospital and doctors tried to revive him
for 20 minutes, but failed. He was pronounced dead at 9:18 PM due to Respiratory failure. He died at California Hospital Medical Center from his injuries. They said he suffered a heart attack while doing the magic trick because he got really stressed out. He died at approximately 8:51 PM that day. His funeral was held on January 6, 1965 in Las Vegas, California. Sean's younger brother, Nelson, held the funeral and Sean's wife Julie. Sean Williams' wife Julie and his children got his money after he died. Sean Williams had an open casket funeral. He was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California. Casting for Sean Williams in the movie about his life was very difficult who to pick to act as Williams.
In 1971, one of Sean's friends, Jackie Jackson was perfect for the movie. Jackie acted as Sean Williams in the movie about his life called Sean Williams. The movie was released on April 9, 1972. Sean Williams the movie started playing in theaters. It won an award in 1976 for Perfect Acting & Graphics In Movie and that movie became even more popular, which causing it to play in more theaters in different states and countries. In 1968, The Sean Williams statue was built and put in the Sean Williams Museum. The Sean Williams museum is located in Los Angeles, California. In 2022, It won a Grammy for Sean Williams Perfect Singing Voice.
