So it was night 

I tried to sleep, but I had a  hard time because it was stormy. When I finally did, my mom woke me up at about 5am

“Kamila, Brooke” (my sister, name protected for privacy reasons) my mom said, “there’s a tornado!”

we quickly ran to our parents bedroom

The lightning was so bright that it was like a big flashlight that was turned on for a second and we could see it through the curtains

And that’s when I heard it
