Friendship isn't a big thing
it's a million little things

Prologue:
Hannah
"You two are going to be partners in modelling," said Mrs Jess, smiling at a blonde girl. "Hi," I manage to say. "Hey," the blonde girl said back. "Okay," said Mrs Jess, "I have to run a few errands, so you guys get to know each other a little. Kay?" We both nod. "Okay, I'll be back soon," she said, leaving the makeup room.
Now, it was just me and the little blonde girl. "I'm Hannah," I say, putting out my hand. "I'm Selah," she said, shaking my hand. "So when did you get into the modelling business," she asked, curious. "Ever since I was four," I reply. "Me too!" she said. "Guess that's one thing we have in common." "Yeah," she said. "How old are you?" "I'm eight," I say. "No way," Selah said, "I am too!" "Oh my gosh!" I say. "We're like twins!"
"I know!" Selah agreed.
"It's kinda nice to know I'm not the only really young model, you know?" Selah confessed. "It is kinda nice," I say. "Wanna be friends?" I ask. "Oh, could we?" Selah asked. "Of course," I say. Selah got out of her seat and hugged me. "I've never had a real friend before," she said.
"Me either," I say. "But now, I do have a friend." Selah smiled but then continued to hug me. I did the same.
Chapter 1:
Hannah
7 years later...
"Selah," I say, "Are you in here?" No one answered. Just then, out of nowhere, Selah came out from behind the door and yelled, "Boo!" I screamed. Selah started to laugh. I rolled my eyes. "Selah, you almost gave me a heart attack!" I complained. "But I didn't," she said. She then continues to laugh. "Mrs Jess wants us in the booth." "Again?" Selah complained. "But we just did a photoshoot like two hours ago!"
"I know," I say, "but she wants to do another one." Selah groaned. "Life of being a model at Top Model," I say. "Yeah, yeah. I just want to take a vacation," said Selah. "We've been doing this for six weeks and haven't
gotten our week break yet." "I know, I know," I say. "They just need one more photoshoot and then we're home free." "Yeah, but only for a week. We need longer breaks, like a month." "Selah insisted. "Okay that's too long," I say. "Maybe your right. How about four weeks?" I giggle. "They would never let us have a break that long," I say.
Selah nodded in agreement. "Do you ever wish that sometimes you weren't a model?" Selah asked. "Oh, all the time," I say. We both start laughing. "I wonder what it would be like if we weren't models," said Selah. "We could probably do a lot of things," I said. "Like go to the beach whenever we want to, go camping, play a sport, there are a lot of things we could do if we weren't models."
Selah sighed. "I wish I was never a model." "Don't say that. You love modelling and you know it." "Yeah, only if I could do the stuff I wanted to," Selah said.
Selah looked so sad at this moment. And she was almost never sad. She's always been happy, kind, jolly Selah. But I didn't see that Selah anymore. "Hey," I say, "after the photoshoot, we'll go get some ice cream. Sound good?" "Sounds good," she said, smiling.
We then left the makeup room and headed to the booth.
Chapter 2:
Selah
"And now serious face," said the photographer. "Good!" After he snapped a few more photos, he said, "Mrs Selah, is there something wrong?" "What, uh, no. There's nothing wrong." He made a suspicious face but continued to snap photos. A few minutes later, he said, "Okay, that's all I need. Thank you for your time girls."
We both smiled. "Okay," said Hannah, "how 'bout that ice cream?" I smile.
"Thank you, Hannah," I say, licking my ice cream. "Anytime." We both continued to eat our delicious ice cream, but then afterwards, we went back to Top Model.
"That was some good ice cream, eh?" asked Hannah.
"Very good," I say. Hannah laughs. "You know, we should go out more," insisted Hannah. "We should. But the question is; Would Mrs Jess approve of it?" I asked. "Maybe. If we begged her to death," said Hannah. "I still don't think she would say yes," I say. "But it's worth a shot." "Yeah, your right." "Excuse me," said a familiar voice. We both turn around to see Mrs Jess. "Where were you two?"
Hannah and I both looked at each other. "We went to go get ice cream," I mumbled. "Sorry, what was that? I couldn't hear you," said Mrs Jess. "We went to go get ice cream," I said, but a little louder that time. "Who said you could go?" Mrs Jess asked.
We didn't answer. "Uh, huh. No more going out to places without permission," said Mrs Jess. "But we knew if we asked you would say-" Mrs Jess cut me off. "I don't you going to places without permission. And to make sure you learn your lesson, you don't get a break this week."
"Hey, that's not fair!" interjected Hannah. "Stop," said Mrs Jess. Hannah stopped talking. "Both of you go to the makeup room. Now." Without saying another word, we both obeyed.
"I can't stand her!" I say slamming the makeup room door. "She's so unfair! She doesn't get to tell us what to do, she's not our mother!" "But she is our guardian since both of our parents are away on business," said Hannah. I huffed. "Sorry I got us into this mess," said Hannah. "I knew not to go anywhere without letting someone know and now I made both of us lose our break." "No, Hannah, it's not your fault," I said. "I was aware of the rule too."
Hannah sighed.
"Hey," I say, "it's not your fault. And who cares about the break? It's just one week, it's not even that long, so there's no point in it." It made Hannah somewhat feel better. "Well, you want to watch a movie?" I ask. "You always know what makes me feel better," said Hannah.
"And you know what makes me feel better, too," I say. Hannah smiles.
Chapter 3:
Hannah
"Hannah, Hannah," whispered someone shaking me. "What?" I ask. "Follow me." I look over my shoulder and see Selah. "Selah, what are you doing?" "Come on!" "Okay, okay," I say getting out of my bed. We were now tiptoeing around the Top Model office. "What are we doing?" I ask. "Quite asking questions," said Selah.
What was she up to? "Here," said Selah opening a secret door. I was so confused. How did she know there was a door there? I didn't even know there was a door there. Without asking her how she found out about the secret door, I went through it.
"Turn left," whispered Selah. I did so. "Now turn left again." Were we in a maze or something?
"Turn right," Selah ordered. I did so. We were now outside in the fresh air. "Okay," I say, "Selah, what are we doing? For real." "I'll tell you when we're safe," she said. "No," I say, "you're gonna tell me now." Selah sighed. "Hannah, please trust me." Her eyes were so full and pure and trusting. I had to trust her, she's my best friend.
"Okay." "Thanks," she said, running off. I guess I have to follow her.
We were now far from the Top Model office. What was Selah doing? "Okay," she said. "Do you know how to get back to the Top Model office?" "Uhh, no. I was hoping you did." "Perfect!" she said with happiness. I was so confused. What was so perfect? "Okay, now please don't get mad at me, but we just ran away."
"What?" I say. "I can see you're frustrated," Selah started. "You think?!" I shout. "What were you thinking?!"
Just as she was about to say something, I cut her off. "Why, Selah? Why?!" "I was just tired of being a model, so this is going to be our break since Mrs Jess said we couldn't have one this week." I was speechless. "Look," said Selah, "give this a day or two and you'll be okay-" "No! I won't be okay!" I yell. "We just ran away! Well I didn't even know we were running away in the first place. Selah, I thought we were friends."
"We are," she said. "I just thought maybe you'd want to do this." "Why would you think I would want to do this," I ask. "I-I... I don't know," Selah answered. "You don't know," I say. Selah shook her head. I sigh in frustration. "Come on, take us back to Top Model," I said. Selah was speechless. "I don't know how to get back," she said slowly. "Great," I say, "this is just perfect! We're lost in the middle of the city!"
Selah looked as if she might cry. "Selah, I'm sorry. Maybe I just overreacted." "No," she said, "you didn't. This was a stupid idea and I
never should have done it."
"You know," I say, "I'm actually kinda glad you did this." "You are?" she said in astonishment. "Yeah, this will be a great experience... Especially since I'll get to do it with you." Selah smiled and hugged me.
Yes, I was mad at her for doing this whole thing, but maybe this would be good for us. To get fresh air maybe get a few scars along the way, either way, I'm glad she did this. This would be good for us to do together.
Chapter 4:
Selah
"Where are we even going?" asked Hannah. "I don't know yet, but I'll figure it out," I answer. "Some plan," Hannah said. "Was 'run away' as far as you got?" "Yes," I admit, ashamed. She giggled. "That's my Selah." I start giggling as well. "So we have nowhere to sleep?" Hannah asked. "Yeah, sorry about that," I say. "Guess that's what happens when you don't have a foolproof plan."
We continue walking around the dark city of Louisiana. It was hot, I can tell you that. "So are we gonna sleep on a bench or something?" Hannah asked jokingly. "To be honest, we might have to," I say. Hannah's smile dropped. "Your kidding, right?" she asked. I shook my head slowly. Her eyes were now wide. I gave her a weak smile.
