Chapter one-Zage
Arrg! I thought as I struck a rock across a thin, wooden stick. Why won’t it light?! Name’s Zage. I’m a demon, a hybrid called a violet-demon to by exact. Wondering why I’m not with my tribe? Kicked out. It’s nothing really, and I don’t take pity. I glanced up, hoping that an army wouldn’t burst through the ash trees. My stalhorse whinnied nervously. I rummaged through my pack, which isn’t much. A few loafs of stale bread, a canteen filled half-way with water, and a ratty old throw-blanket.
“In the witch’s name!” I grumbled under my breath. I flicked my tail and stood up, dumping the stone into my pack, and walked over to the horse. Its skeletal figure didn’t look much better than me, to be honest. I climbed onto its back, and kicked its bony thigh to get it moving. The stalhorse started trotting through the trees, swerving away from patches of light filtering through the trees. Stalhorse can’t touch light since, you know, they’re undead. I rolled my eyes and kicked it’s thigh again.
The horse cantered into a dark clearing, where a tent was set up. My outcast friend, Azazel, a red-demon, sat apon a log near the tent. Azazel is a scary dude, 7 feet tall, with a large wingspan and a wicked sword called the Inferno’s Fury. He looked over his shoulder. “Welcome back Zage.”
Chapter two-Sadie
Hi there! I’m Sadie! I’m a faery, obviously, with my ginger hair and emerald eyes. I was just walking through the forest when… I saw a soft flicker… fire? No, impossible. I trudged closer, fluttering my wings from here, and there. I heard a creaking of bones-a skeleton? Zombie? Stalhorse, maybe? Suddenly, a small vine shot up from the ground and grasped my ankle! I shooed it away. I’ve always been told I make a big deal out of everything.
I peeked through the trees, and saw a demon riding atop a stalhorse. The demon looked about my age, a little older maybe. The one thing I noticed was, he had both a horn and a red horn. A rare violet-demon?! I stepped closer, attempting to follow him.
The boy rode into a dark clearing, where another demon sat. He was scary tall (unlike me. Well, I’m still scary!) the new demon grunted and said, “welcome back Zage.” Zage… that must be the violet-demon’s name. Sounds like sage.
I stepped closer and- CRACK! I looked down, seeing a broken twig crushed underneath my boot. I looked up, panicked, but the Zage dude was allready approaching my hiding-spot.
Chapter three-Zage
CRACK! The loud sound on someone not very skilled at stealth sounded through the forest. My head snapped toward where the sound had come from, and a started walking toward it. I could sence a life force hiding behind the tree, being a violet-demon, I could summon the undead and sence life, or even death. I spread out my wings to look more menacing, but just as I started to look behind the tree, a vine grabbed my arm and dragged me backwards! A faery, definitely.
sure enough, a short, ginger earth fairy stomped out from behind the tree, a dagger in her hand.”WHAT DO YOU WANT!?” she shouted. Azazel stood up, but I signed to him to stay put until my signal. “Little faery-“ I started but was interrupted my her, “I’m not little-“ “you have disturbed us, not the other way around.” I finished. She frowned, “okay then… what’s your name? Are you Zage? Who’s that big dude?” Well she’s talkative. “Yes, I’m Zage, that’s Azazel.” She fluttered over to Azazel and poked him, “you don’t mess with me.”
Said the little fairy. “I’m Sadie! Can I join your baddie club?” I stared at her, “uhm…”
Chapter four-Sadie
His answer was, “uhm…” I pushed my ear-short hair out of my face, “that’s all?” His face turned serious, “well, I mean….” He hesitated, “uh, i guess so.” The Azazel dude frowned. “Sweet!” I skipped over and sat on the log, “what’s for dinner?”

I yawned, has it already been the entire night? I flipped open my tent’s flap. Yep. Zage was already tending to the fire.
I got dressed and walked out into the clearing. I plopped down on the log next to Zage, “oh,” he scooted away, “hi.” “Hello and good morning!” I clapped my hands. “Where we goin’?” He gave me a look of awkward confusion, “uhm, we’re going to try and find the great witch Selene’s spell book, the Codex of Shadows?”
Chapter five-Zage
I trudged along the bare road, Sadie walked uncomfortably close. One more mile…. Just one more… it had allready taken two days to walk this far, and I had sent my stalhorse back to the underworld (don’t worry, just a bit of magic). Sadie poked my right wing, “so, what did you do to become an outcast?” My looked down. That was an uncomfortable topic for me to talk about… but… “being me. A hybrid.” The faery’s eyes filled with concern, “awe, I don’t think it’s bad, it’s cute!” Now that made me blush.
She grinned, “I left because who wants to be a weak earth fae? Demons are way cooler.” Hm, feisty one she is. “When will we get to this… Selene’s cave?” She asked. “I’d say about 2 hours.” Sadie made a sour face. “Hey, what’s that?” She pointed to a small rainbow squirrel-like creature. “That’s a Chromafluff. Wonder what it’s doing out here, they’re tame.” The fae scooped up the Chromafluff. “I’ll call it Annie.” She declared. Based on its curly fur, I knew it was a boy, but I kept that to myself.
Chapter six-The Witch Selene
Selene wove her hands over the crystal ball that sat in front of her. Her long, black hair waved, and her peircing emerald eyes blew in the cave’s dark. She watched the young demon and faery make their journey toward her lair, and she knew they would seek out her prized diary, the Codex of Shadows. Selene Nightshade swept her hand across a bookshelf near her, and picked out a small, dusty, pink book. She opened it up and began to wright on the first page,
“Zage WildHeart and Sadie ClovenWood’s story.” She clicked her pen, taking in thoughts on the pair’s destiny. And then a idea sparked in the witch’s head, and she began to wright again…
Chapter seven-Sadie
I slowly etched my needle along a sturdy branch I’d found on out trek. Carving takes work, and time. But the idea of carving a sheith for Sadie’s dagger came quickly. She can’t just a carry that everywhere without a sheath forever. I glanced down a the faery, who was sleeping on a mat of pine needles a few feet away from me, and Azazel was sitting at least 3 yards away, keeping watch. I tossed some wood shavings from my carving into the fire to keep it going.
Sadie’s Chromafluff sat next to me, sniffing at my large, dragon-like wings. I scared it away with a flick of my tail. I looked around for any leather to finish the sheath with, but saw none, so I ripped off a small peice of my jacket. Close enough. It would be eassier to stitch onto the sheath anyway. Once I had finished, I set it down next to Sadie, and walked over to Azazel. “You need sleep, I’ll take watching-duty.” I told him. He responded with a grunt and
Shooed me off. So I fixed up a mat of my own, and laid down for a good rest…
Chapter eight-Sadie
The first thing I saw when I woke was a wooden sheath, the perfect size for my dagger. I somehow knew the sleeping Zage had made it, and I smiled at him as he snored. I looked up the mountain we were climbing, the witch’s cave so close! I breathed in the morning air, “good morning.” I opened my eyes and saw Zage sitting up, looking happier than normal. “Good morning. Thanks for the sheath.”
His face reddened, “no promlemo.” I giggled. Azazel walked over to us, and stomped out the fire. “Time to move.” The huge demon seemed so tough, and used so little words, but I knew there was a kind soul somewhere in there. I got up and followed him anyway.
Zage tinkered with some wood and his needle thing he found, and managed to make Annie a wooden bone, as well as a flute for himself. When I had told him, “I didn’t know you could play the flute,” he answered quietly, my grandmother taught me.
I stayed silent after that. It must of been hard for him to be banished from his tribe, because of his looks. I think he looks better than any other demon I’ve seen, at least! I thought of my grandmother, an old, plump fae with long, ginger hair. Her name was… ah. That was it. Her name was Elysia. She was a wise fae, and I was glad to be her granddaughter.
Chapter nine-Zage
Finally had out little group of three-ehem, four (Annie hated when I excluded him), reached Selene Nightshade’s cave. Sadie picked up Annie, and the four of us walked inside. The cave’s marble walls almost flew in the darkness of the cave. Amethysts adorned the ceiling, and it the middle sat a young witch, appearing to be in her 20s. She had long, obsidian hair, and beautiful emerald eyes that matched Sadie’s.
A crystal ball sat in front of her, but she was paying attention to a dusty pick diary. When she noticed us, the witch of our planet’s life snapped the book shut and smiled sweetly (not as innocent as she looks though). “Hello, darlings!” She beckoned us forward. “You have come for my book, yes?” She patted the Cordex of Shadows. “Not yet… not yet… you need yet a prophecy first.” Sadie dumped Annie into Azazel’s arms, and sat in front of Selene. I followed.
She rested her hand on the crystal ball, and closed her eyes. “Ah.” Said the witch. “I see. She opened her eyes and began to speak.
Chapter ten-Sadie
Words started pouring from the witch’s mouth, “in realms unknown, where stars align, on planet Antonious, a fateful sign. A war rages feirce, demons clash with fae. But two souls intertwined, hope shall convey.” I listened to her words, Zage opened his mouth to speak, but I nudged his shoulder, this could not be the entire prophecy. The witch continued, “Zage the demon, with flames in his gaze. Haunted by darkness, yet he yearns to embrace. A destiny profound, yet shrouded in doubt. To bridge the divide, and silence war’s shouts.”
Zage shuddered next to me. “Sadie the faery, with wings so light. Carries a burden, a struggle to flight. Seeking harmony, amidst chaos’ reign. Her love for the demon, a secret, untamed.” I could feel my face redden. “Through trails feirce, together they’ll stride. Unveiling hidden truths, so more to hide. In their hearts’ whispers, a power untold. A love unconquerable, destined to unfold.” I glanced at Zage, who too, was blushing feircly. “
“Upon the battlefield, when monsters clash. They’ll rise as one, their courage unflashed. Harnessing magic, united they stand. For love blooms bravely, hand in hand” oof, a big secret has already been revealed, thanks to this dumb prophecy. “A prophecy whispers, like a fleeting breeze. From ancient whispers, the unknown shall seize. Zage and Sadie, the spirits aligned. Shall unlock the key, eternal love defined.” That a big much, “in cosmic symphony, their souls entwined. A future reborn, a radiant find. Antonious shall witness, demons and fae.
Bound by love’s light, the war will give way. So heed this prophecy, woven in verse. The twin soulx unit the realms, beneath destiny’s eye.” Selene gasped out the last words. “That was a lot, and couldn’t you have said that in a more privet area?” Zage glanced at Azazel. “Sorry!” Said Nightshade, as she plopped the heavy Conex of Shadows in my arms, “now toodaloo!”
Chapter eleven-Zage
Sadie and I were quiet the entire way down the mountain, when she asked me a simple question, “what are we using the Codex for?” I glanced at the book I was carrying, “it’s a spell-book.” “Why is this war even going on?” “I-I don’t know…” she stepped a little closer, “that’s fine.” Annie hoped onto the fae’s shoulder. I sighed. “So, you can really play the flute.” “Oh, well, yes…” I lifted my flute to my lips and began to play a simple tune I knew
Called “the secret of the fae”. The song grew from quiet and peaceful, to chaos, and back. Sadie started to hum along, “I know this, my mother used to sing it to be as a baby!” She smiled, I think I can remember the words… “ she took a deep breath, “in a realm of dreams, where fae dance, lived a creature with an evil stance. Malachi, the faery with a wicked soul, seeking power he sought to control.” I almost got distracted by her voice,
“Oh Malachi, fueled by darkness untold. In his heart, a story yet to unfold. A faery gone astray, his heart cold and blue. He’d bring destruction, both fae and demon too. Fear struck the land, shadows grew deep. For Malachi’s powers…” she stopped studiedly, “wait… bring destruction to both fae and demon!?” She gasped, “Malachi’s back! He must be the cause of the war!”
Chapter twelve-the witch Selene
Selene Nightshade smirked, “so they’ve finally figured it out. She picked up the pink diary and wrote something in it. “The battle is coming, thye must be parpared.” The witch remembered how Malachi had been driven away… two young fae were playing by a River, twins, about 11 years old. A girl, who had long, black hair and green eyes, and a boy, also with black hair and green eyes.
The girl laughed, “Mal! What are you doing?” The boy looked up, “hey Selene, look at this!” The girl ran over to the boy, and looked into the stream. “A rainbow koi! I heard if you find one, they’ll tell our fate!” She picked up the fish. “Selene Nightshade, shall grow to a fate witch, the controller of Antonious. And Malachi Nightshade…” the fish gasped its last words before it stopped moving. Malachi grumbled, “you get to be a Fate!? WHAT ABOUT ME!?”
The witch woke suddenly from her memory. She wiped her eyes and found… she was crying. He brother hadn’t derserved to not see his fate. If she had just left the fish in the water…”
Chapter thirteen-Sadie
“Where’s Zage?” I asked Azazel. “Tent.” Said he. I walked over to Zage’s tent and tapped on the flap, “hello?” Zage peeked through the flap, “what?” “I wanna study the Codex.”he frowned, but let me in. The book was open on the tents floor, to a page about Malachi. “Is there anything that says how to stop him?” I asked. “That’s what I’m trying to find!” I flipped the page, “here!”
“Malachi’s weaknesses,” read Zage, “Light of Pure… we’d need an angel for that, and they are sworn enemies of demons… faery light,” “that’s good!” I exclaimed. He continued , “and the Power of Love and Friendship.” Awkward silence, “uhm, I think faery magic will work…” he agreed. “ I’m going to go practice.” Zage walked out of the tent. I followed, battle practice would be good.
Chapter fourteen-Zage
I grabbed my spear, and walked out to combat training. targets were already set up. I tested the position of my spear, and hurdaled it toward a target. Bullseye. Sadie came out too. She tossed her dagger toward a target and frowned. She flicked her hand toward the target and sent a bit of light towards it and giggles her little faery laugh.
I looked at my hands and took a deep breath. Sadie cocked her head, wondering what I was about to do. I place my hand on the ground, and closed my eyes, feeling deep into the ground. Aha. My eyes snapped open and my hands steamed, but I had done it! We started in awe of the skeletol fire drakon before us. “Do that’s what violet-demons can do?!” Sadie whispered.
I grinned. “SADIE! ZAGE!” Azazel came suddenly hurling to the ground, “attacked.”
Chapter five teen-Sadie
Zage got up, dusted off his cloak, and walked back to camp. I followed. There stood three demons. Th one in the front spoke, “long time no see, Zage.” She spoke his name with disgust. I started to pull out my dagger, but then Zage answered the she-demon, “Scarlet. What do you want?” The demon supposedly named Scarlet laughed, “only that little fae.” “Why I’m not lit-“ I started but one of the other demons pulled his sword.
“One more word…” he said. “Ember, we need her alive.” Scarlet interrupted. Zage put a protective arm around me, “she’s not going anywhere.” “Ya!” I whimpered. I thought I might of seen a smile from the last demon, “she fiesty.” He said. Ember rolled his eyes, “Zephyr, you softie.” “Anyway, you’re coming with us.” Said a Scarlet.
