"In play the child is always behaving beyond his age, above his usual everyday behaviour; in play he is, as it were, a head above himself."
- Lev Vygotsky (1978)

In the forest, there was a meadow with mineral spring water, a little pond, and a hill that collapsed, and at the bottom of it, there was sand.

She and her friends would bring a soccer ball, blanket, and different snacks. They would spend all afternoon in the forest playing different games, swimming, playing in the sand, or just having a little picnic.

She loved everything about this place and the fun and bonding she had with her friends. The warmth of the sun on her skin after swimming, the smell of the wildflowers with the bees buzzing, and the birds chirping. Playing in the sand, building sand castles, or burying each other.
Now that she is a grown-up her memory of this Sunday afternoons during summer spent with her friends is still very vivid. Thinking back, her heart fills with happiness and joy. She wishes she could go back in time and spend one more afternoon with her childhood friends in the same spot, in the forest, surrounded by their laughter, and their joy.
