Hello there, future educators! I am the Classroom Management Hero, or you can call me Abby for short. I go around the world helping teachers, just like you, to find the perfect way to manage their classroom. Follow me!

Today, we're going to focus on finding a teacher that needs help with creating a proactive classroom design.

Hey Abby, I am in dire need of help with my classroom design! Will you please come help our class?

Alright, friends, we have found our designated classroom to help. Let's get started!

Let's start with an overview of the overall classroom design.

When picking a theme for your classroom, you must keep in mind that too much color can be very distracting to some students. Try picking a theme that best calms you and your students. Something to keep in mind is that colors like orange and red usually transmit a negative impact on students. Colors such as blue and green are consider less stressful and distracting. Overall the goal is to find a good balance in your classroom.

Classroom jobs can help build a sense of community and interdependence. It also builds a sense of excitement in the classroom from the very beginning of the school year. Theses jobs can easily teach the students responsibility throughout the classroom.

When assigning theses jobs we have to make sure to let students know why the jobs they are preforming matter. We should also try to always model each job no matter how simple it may be. Lastly, reinforcing the students success is a must. This can be done by simply pointing out specifics positive actions about their classroom job.

Student desk/ table arrangement will be located in the back center of the classroom, each table will have 4-5 students depending on the size of the classroom that year. Each table will have a color coded bucket with pencils, crayons, markers for their use. The color buckets on the table will determine small groups that will be discussed later in the book.
For the teacher 's desk, make it meet your needs even if you use it regularly or use it for stacking paper on a daily basis.
Make sure that there is enough space to walk around in the classroom.

A bulletin board is a teaching tool. In our classroom the bulletin board will be separated into the 4 teaching subjects discussed in school. Each section will have an anchor chart on the material that is currently being taught. Bulletin boards are a great tool for students to refer back when doing independent work.

The library is a great section to have in the classroom for students to do independent reading, but this will be discussed more in depth later on in the book. The location of the library will be in front of the classroom, in the corner opposite the door.

The organization of a classroom also has a significant impact on the effectiveness of management. Having neat desks, for example, will help during transitions, just as having an organized supply closet will help each student develop responsibility and independence. Let us investigate further!
