Quinn lives with his mom and two older sisters. There are times he wishes he wasn’t the only boy in the house. But he gets along with his sisters and has a happy home life. His mom does the best she can as she tries to provide for her kids in a single-income house. Unfortunately for Quinn he sometimes gets stuck wearing his sisters’ hand me downs. It’s usually pants, sweaters, and other clothing items. This year it happened at Halloween.

This year Quinn was forced to dress up as a witch. It was a costume his older sisters had worn when they were his age. Needless to say Quinn’s fellow students had a lot of fun teasing him at school. He would’ve much rather gone as a superhero or even a ghost but a witch? Ugh! “That’s for girls” he thought to himself. And what was the deal with this broomstick he was carrying around? It’s been making weird sounds all morning.

After a rough day at school Quinn raced home taking a shortcut past a construction site. There he bumped into a pair of high school bullies.
“Hey Temu, check this out. It’s a boy witch” one of the bullies laughed.
“Whatcha gonna do witch, fly home on your broomstick?” the other teen scoffed.
The broomstick in Quinn’s hand began to shake furiously, pulling him down the street. The teens started to chase after Quinn who suddenly found himself soaring through the air. The teens stood in disbelief as they watched Quinn flying around on a broomstick.

“What’s going on?” a surprised and frightened Quinn asked out loud.
“You’ve been chosen to be trained as a witch” a voice responded.
“Who are you? Where are you?” Quinn stammered in shock.
“Down here. My name is Broomhilda and I am a magical broomstick. This will all make more sense when you meet Auntie Griselda. Alright, hold on, it’s time to hit turbo speed.”
“Whoooooooaaaaaaa!!!!” Quinn screamed as the broomstick hit 100 miles per hour.

The pair arrived deep in the forest where they headed toward an old, creepy cabin. It was there that Quinn met Auntie Griselda.
“Ah, so this is Quinn. You look just like your mom and sisters. They were some of my top students.”
“My mom and sisters aren’t witches lady” Quinn interrupted.
“Not anymore. Each generation passes their talent for witchcraft to the next era.”
“But I can’t be a witch. I’m a boy!” Quinn protested.
“Here at The Ravenwood Academy, boys and girls can be anything they want” Broomhilda added.

With the snap of her fingers, Auntie Griselda had transported Quinn to a classroom where he was surrounded by other kids his age. All girls.
“Am I at Hogwart’s?” Quinn joked.
“Even better, you’re at The Ravenwood Academy For Witches” the instructor replied.
“But you’re just a kid yourself” Quinn gasped.
“Actually I’ve been doing this for over 200 years. My name is Ms. Grimsbane. Now please open your books to Chapter 23.”
Quinn tried to get up and leave but was hit by a thick heavy book that flew onto his desk.

Quinn took to witchcraft like a fish to water. Before he knew it he was casting spells better than the rest of the class. He began to realize that being a witch was actually kinda fun. He learned hundreds of magical spells and other tricks. All he had to do was remember to only use his powers for good. It was something The Ravenwood Academy took very seriously. They had a strict ‘No Black Magic’ policy.

Quinn graduated at the top of his class and was looking forward to celebrating with his fellow students when he heard a shriek echo throughout the chambers.
“What is it Auntie Griselda?” Broomhilda shouted.
“It’s Orion Gloomfyre. He’s back and looking to cause trouble in Quinn’s hometown of Hazelpost.
“Oh no! Wait, who’s Orion Gloomfyre?” Quinn questioned.
“He was once one of the top students at Ravenwood. But he became obsessed with acquiring more power. Eventually he took all his knowledge to the dark side.”
