Prologue: 3 years ago
Amelia ran for her life. She knew that the dragon was close on her trail. She wanted to ask someone for help, but she thought the person who helped her might end up killing her anyway. So she didn’t. She just went on running. Amelia was about to give up, but she spotted a tight space through the trees that only a human could go through, so she used up the last of her energy and bolted in between the two spiky trees at the front of the passage.
For ten minutes, Amelia travelled through the lane of trees, spurred on by the promise of survival constantly whispering in her head in a mysterious voice. What seemed like an eternity, Amelia burst into the
clearing, realising that the dragon was no longer chasing her. She was rejoicing when she accidentally tripped and fell on top of the back of a furry something. Amelia gasped. It was a wolf. This isn’t just ANY wolf. Amelia thought as she hid behind a rock. It‘s a Feral Wolf. She held her breath as the Feral Wolf woke up from its relaxing sleep.
Even though Amelia knew this wolf was deadly, she also thought it was really beautiful. The wolf was a female with storm grey fur and sparkling eyes that were hazel. Its fur wasn’t as ruffled as the usual Feral Wolves, though. It looked really smooth, probably as smooth as a regular Boss Wolf. Its eyes glittered in the moonlight as it scanned its surroundings. As it circled its forest territory, it heard the rustling of leaves from where Amelia was crouching. It pricked its ears up as it trotted towards the rock and sniffed it all around. It soon spotted
Amelia and its eyes were filled with anger while the giant canine stared down at her. Then, without thinking, Amelia backed away from the wolf and ran away. As she ran, the vast forest slowly turned into a cold tundra biome. She paced to the nearest tree and sat under it, breathless. As the forest turned into a winter wonderland, Amelia frantically turned her head in every direction until she knew the premises were safe. She ate a cookie made of nutritious berries and sweet coconuts, and then she drifted off to sleep.

Amelia was starving. She hadn’t eaten in days. All the prey in the tundra biome were just too fast for her to catch. And without a pet by her side, she was terrible at hunting. The winter was filled with
hopelessness and cold nights. As Amelia wandered through the snowy forest, she heard a blood-curdling howl and then the bellow of a Boss Deer, followed by a loud thump. Amelia ran to the scene and gasped. The Boss Deer was lying there, lifeless. She also saw something that twisted her mind in the most curious way. The Feral Wolf that she saw before was still alive.
Huh… That’s weird. Amelia thought. Don't all the animals from one biome die when the biome changes? The wolf saw her and glared down at Amelia for a long, scary moment. I know what’s happening. Amelia contemplated in her head. She’s deciding whether she should spare me or not. After what seemed like an eternity, the wolf huffed deeply and gestured to Amelia to take a bite. Filled with relief and excitement, Amelia trotted over to the giant deer and carved bits out with her sharp, stone daggers.
