Maize Weaver - Rachel Rausch
Once upon a time, in a farmyard floating in space, lived Martha the pig, Beth the cow, and Stewart the chicken. Life was rather dull for them, grazing in the grass and clucking about the mysteries of the universe. But one fateful night, the animals noticed something peculiar in the constellations near them.
Martha oinked, “Beth, Stewart, have you ever seen that pattern of stars before?”
Beth mooed, “I can’t say I have, Martha. It’s like an unknown constellation.”
Stewart flapped his wings and clucked, “We should investigate! Let’s hop on this hay bale and launch ourselves into cosmic discovery!”
And so the three courageous farm animals hopped on a magic hay bale and glided through the stars, gazing at everything near them. Eventually, they reached the mysterious unknown constellation.
“What do you think it is, guys,” said Martha.
Beth pondered, “I’d say it looks like a shimmering cornstalk.” Stewart agreed with Beth and said, “Let’s call it Maize Weaver!”
The animals returned to the farmyard, sharing the tales of their discovery. From that day forward, the new constellation became the talk of the farmyard and ignited the farm's sense of cosmic wonder.

Sophie R's Story:
Persepheter, goddess of trees
There was once a goddess, Persepheter, a distant descendent of Demeter, the goddess of harvest and fertility. However, despite being a descendant of a nature goddess, Persepheter lived 200 years without knowing her purpose as a goddess. "How am I to help the mortals?" she asked herself. She wondered until one fateful, yet promising summer day. See, at the time there were no forests in the mortal realm, and this summer day introduced the gods to the problem of wildfires. They happened so abruptly and moved so quickly that they could not intervene before thousands of grasslands and fields were completely destroyed. (Continued on next page -->)

Persepheter felt a deep sorrow for the plant life lost to these brutal fires. Suddenly, she had a brilliant idea. "That's it!" she exclaimed. "I know how to help the mortals. I shall create tall, sturdy structures that can protect the rest of the little foliage in the mortal realm. They shall be called trees, and where many are gathered shall be a place called 'forest'. And I shall watch over these trees and forests from now on, making sure to protect not only my sacred creations, but also the plant and other mortal life that resides amongst these trees." It was from here on that many more plant variations were able to come into existance and people were able to develop better civilizations. Those who were therefrom the birth of trees have since passed on a tradition to love, honor, and respect the goddess Persepheter and her trees that provide constant protection, and to this day, civilizations of this tradition will only use wood to build the most essential of structures.

The Story of Morty the Brachiosaurus
A long, long time ago, there lived a lonely Brachiosaurus named Morty. He lived in a small neighborhood where he didn't have many friends. His neighbors, the T-Rexes, Triceratopses, and Velociraptors, always made fun of him. He didn't look like them because he didn't have horns, spikes or sharp teeth, but he did have a long neck, a very long neck. Morty didn't like going out during the day because his neighbors would call him "Long Neck Morty." Only if they knew how hard it was for him to find a scarf that fit!
Morty only went out at night when all the dinosaurs were sleeping. He liked how peaceful it was. He loved looking at the stars since he could be closer to them than anyone else in the neighborhood. Every day was the same: He went to work at his boring job and ate the same salad for every meal. Every night, he would wait until it was dark and then go outside to look up at the stars.
He always wished for something more in his life and wanted to find someone else like him.
While looking at the stars one night, he thought he saw one move quickly and brightly through the sky. It was so fast, he wondered if he had actually seen it! Morty had never seen such a thing before and he wondered if this was a sign. Morty decided to find where the star went. He grabbed everything he needed for the trip and packed his suitcase. As he walked away from his small neighborhood, he waved goodbye and knew something bright was coming. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years. With each step, Morty thought about his journey and his quest to find the star. Finally, he came to a huge hill, where the star had disappeared so many years ago. He couldn't see what was on the other side of the hill as he climbed up and wasn’t sure what he would find. When finally made it to the top, he saw what was on the other side, and he knew this was where he was meant to be. To this day, people say when you look up at the stars, you can see Morty on his journey to find his star.
