The Tortoise and the Hare
Once upon a time, a very long time ago, there was a village on the outskirts of a large farm. It was a very small village of only small animals, but it was mostly small because even a human was too big to enter.
Now, there was a considerably large number of small animals living in the village. All the animals loved playing fun games, and the game they loved playing the most was racing. But out of them all, nobody loved racing more than Hare.

Hare was extremely fast. He could outrun just about anyone in the whole entire village! One sunny day, the village animals had a meeting in the center of town. "Who wants to race me?" said Hare. Nobody did, because they feared of embarrassment again. But only one person stepped up from the crowd.

It was Tortoise who stood up! Everybody gasped. Tortoise was the least anyone expected to be racing - she was wise and ancient, the oldest member in the village. "I'll race against you," Tortoise said steadily. Hare laughed. "I'll cross the finish line in five minutes," he boasted. "Challenge accepted!"

"THREE! TWO! ONE!" the referee shouted from a megaphone. Hare jumped swiftly over the obstacles while Tortoise slowly worked her way around them. "You'll never beat me!" Hare shouted over his shoulder. Tortoise kept on going.
When Hare was finally a very long distance away from Tortoise, he looked back. The sun beat on his back and made it damp. He started to slow down his pace.
