''Abigail, I'm bored,'' Gabby complained.
''I know, Gabby. So am I,'' Gabby's older sister, Abigail, replied. They were traveling to their Aunt Kelsey's house with their parents to visit her. The thing was, Aunt Kelsey lived so far away.
Abigail leaned foward. ''Dad! How much longer until we arrive?''
''Just an hour left,'' her dad replied.
An hour! The tragedy! The last couple of hours always seem the longest.
Mom smiled weakly. ''Just and hour,'' she sighed. She was currently pregnant and the road trip was difficult for her. Dad squeezed her hand.
''How about you try to go to sleep?'' Mom told the sisters.
And they did.
''We're here!'' was the next thing they heard. Abigail sat up straight in her seat. She patted her little sister's light brown hair. ''We're here, Gabby!''
''Yay,'' Gabby groaned. ''I think I'm going to throw up.''
Mom worriedly looked at her.
Gabby giggled.
''I'm just joking!''
''oh, oh, you're here, you're here!'' Aunt Kelsey appeared with her two kids, Penny and George. ''I'm so glad you made it!''
Abigail and Gabby climbed out of the car.
''Hello, Aunt Kelsey,'' the girls said together.
''Oh, look at you two! The last time I'd seen you, Gabby was a newborn and Abigail was six. Oh, how they do grow up!''
Next, she spotted Mom. ''Oh, Sophia, be careful! It's so good to see you- and, hi Joe- well let's go inside so we can all talk!'' Aunt Kelsey was talking very fast.
Suddenly Abigail spotted her cousin, Penny. Penny smiled at her, but she looked worried. Abigail watched her pull her mother aside.
''What closet?'' Abigail heard Aunt Kelsey whisper.
''Mine,'' Penny whispered.
Aunt Kelsey gasped. ''Don't mention it for now,'' she said.
As Aunt Kelsey, Mom, and Dad talked together, the kids went to the backyard to talk.
''How have you been, Penny?'' Abigail asked.
''I've been good. How about you?'' Penny replied
''I've been good. I'm going to miss summer. I don't like the cold.''
Penny giggled. ''I have the most fun in winter because-'' Penny covered her hand with her mouth.
''How?'' Abigail asked.
Penny changed the subject. ''How about I show you the room you are going to stay in?''
''Okay,'' Abigail and Gabby agreed.
But Abigail still thought Penny had a secret.
