A happy kitten named Evie lived on the farm with her best friend Sasha, the farmer's dog, and they did everything together.

Evie loved to play with butterflies,

Take naps,

And cuddle with Sasha!

When Sasha didn't come to see Evie she went to look for her. Sasha was sick and couldn't play anymore. Evie felt horrible seeing her friend like that.

One evening, Evie lay beside Sasha, and she whispered, “Evie I'm so sorry I won’t be able to play with you anymore. But remember I love you and will always be with you.”

When Evie woke she found Sasha was gone. Evie felt lost and alone, and didn't understand why she had to leave.

She sat on the fence, her sadness overwhelming. Suddenly, Olivia the owl landed next to her. Olivia had seen many animals go through loss, she understood how Evie was feeling. “Evie, my dear,” Olivia hooted. “I know you are hurting but remember loss is part of life and feeling sad is ok.”
