             There are many great animals in zoos. In this 

book I will show you three animals. They are lions, 

chimpanzees, and arctic foxes. They all have different 

ways of life and have different appearances. Read this 

book to see and learn about these animals.

'

             My first animal is the lion. Lions are the 

only cats that live in packs, and their packs are 

called prides. The grown males have long fur around 

their necks called manes. While hunting time, the 

men do not hunt. Instead they guard the area their 

pride lives in while the woman do the hunting. There 

are usually about a dozen woman in a pride, while 

there is usually about three men in a pride. The 

woman work together to hunt antelopes, zebras, 

and other big mammals. After they successfully  

take down their prey, the men get the first bite at 

the food. Lions are very interesting animals, and 

there are two more to come.

'

             My second animal is the chimpanzee (chimp). 

Chimps are apes that are very closely related to humans. 

Apes are monkeys without tails, and these apes share 

98% of their DNA with us. Chimps swing from tree to 

tree with their hands. They actually have four hands, one 

in each hand and foot spot. They gather lots of berries 

that they eat along with some   fruits and other human 

foods. Chimps also walk on all fours, walking with two 

fists and two normal feet. Chimps are endangered, which 

means there are not many of them left. People are trying 

to help them, and they are. Lots of chimps are in zoos, 

where humans have lots of interactions with humans, 

but chimps like it better in the wild. People are helping 

chimps by giving a home in the zoo to ones without 

homes and helping the ones with homes in their home. 

Chimps are the second of the interesting animals in this 

book, and there is one more to come.
