Once upon a time, there was a kind girl named Little Red Riding Hood. She was named for the red cloaks she always wore, the ones her very special Granny sewed for her. One day, her mom told her shocking news.

"Little Red," her mother said, "Your dear Granny is very sick. While I go to work, can I trust you to take a basket full of goods with you?" Little Red nodded. Her mother set off, while Little Red put apples, bread, cheese, and muffins in her basket. Off she went, to the path in the woods.

Upon her journey through the forest, she met a friendly, fluffy squirrel. "I have to go there to meet a relative," he said. "Do you mind if I come?" Red was pleased to let him join, so they both skipped away.

Again, as they walked through the path, the squirrel's sharp eyes caught a blur fly past. It was a butterfly! The butterfly said, "I must find new flowers there. May I join?" Also again, Red was happy to, so they trotted down the path.

Now, as they came upon a third creature, this one was much more wise. An owl said, "Are you heading that way, to the town? You must watch out for the Big Bad Wolf. He lives around here. If you don't mind, I will join to warn you of his presence." Red and the other two didn't mind, so they let him join.
