10 hours in a small, hot, and crammed van. All for what I thought would be just a fun week with my friends from church, it turned out to be the most eye-opening week of my whole life.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I had never been before, but I was excited to go. Saturday afternoon, quickly throwing every article of clothing I owned into the small suitcase that barely shut. Considering I was leaving tomorrow, I might have procrastinated packing a little bit.

Did I need a suitcase for 4 days? Maybe not, but I always like to be prepared.

I felt like I was awake forever, mapping how long Myrtle Beach was from Perkasie and making checklists to ensure I wasn’t forgetting anything.

Let's go Laur!
Suddenly, I woke up to my mom telling me it was time to go. I pushed my suitcase and backpack into the car trunk to head to church.
All service, I was only thinking about the trip, the ride, and the memories I was so excited to make. Meeting up with my best friend, Grace, after service, we quickly stopped at Wawa to get even more snacks and grab some lunch before the 10-hour ride.

Back at the church, people arrived and said goodbye to their parents. One of the big, comfy coach buses rolled into the parking lot around 1:30.

Finally, Grace and I got out of the car and said goodbye to my parents. Suitcases on the concrete and lugging our backpacks all the way to the building.

Entering the building, we discovered that the 9th-grade girls and 9th-grade boys had to travel in a small white van since we had the smallest groups.

Hahahaha!
Oh my...

Grace and I looked at each other and laughed. This was going to be a very fun ride...

All packed in the van, we prayed as a big group before we left and started driving around 2 pm.

Everyone was very loud and excited, but that died down very quickly when we kept checking the maps, and every time, the GPS said 10 hours.

STILL 10 HOURS?!

We played card games and sang songs in the car. Somehow, we all got comfortable after an hour while laying on each other.

UNO!!
We are playing go fish...

I had fallen asleep but suddenly woke up to the sound of everyone getting out of the van, and when I opened my eyes, I realized we had arrived.

Finally!

Yay yay yay!!
Finally, after 11 and a half hours, almost 2 am, I was ready to get to a real bed.

Grace and I roomed with other girls the same age as us. The room was big and had a pretty great view of the ocean. I didn’t want to tour the room; I only wanted to sleep, as we all had to be up by 8 am for breakfast and our morning conference. Me and Grace ended up sharing a pull out couch.

In the morning, I was still tired but so excited for the day. I picked a T-shirt and shorts from my suitcase's wardrobe, and we all headed to the breakfast area.
We ate, and the leaders gave us all a name tag. We went through what most of our days would look like. We grabbed our stuff for the first service and returned to the van we had spent all yesterday in.

The quick 10-minute drive to the huge conference building made me excited. I had heard so many great things about the conference and how fun worshiping was with the band.

The doors to the large room were closed, but Grace and I shoved our way to the front of the large crowd that stood behind the doors. We wanted front spots near the stage.
