CHARACTERS

Xue lived for dragons. Every spare moment was spent devouring dusty tomes, their worn leather covers whispering tales of fire-breathing beasts with scales that shimmered like jewels. His tiny house, crammed with scrolls and faded tapestries depicting winged wonders, resembled a ramshackle temple dedicated to these mythical creatures.

One particularly stormy night, Xue, fueled by a fresh batch of dragon lore, paced his cluttered dwelling. Candlelight flickered on the walls, casting dancing shadows that stretched and morphed into monstrous shapes. A creak on the aging floorboards sent a shiver down his spine. His heart hammered with a thrilling mix of fear and excitement.

Suddenly, a guttural roar go through the house, seemingly emanating from the very walls. Xue froze, his eyes widening. Then, a section of the ceiling above him cracked, showering him with dust and plaster. He stumbled back, staring in disbelief as the broken ceiling revealed a vast, cavernous space beyond.

Two enormous, emerald green eyes blinked down at him, followed by the emergence of a colossal head. Its scales gleamed under the moonlight that now flooded the room. Xue let out a strangled gasp. A dragon, real and magnificent, filled his house!
