
Chapter One
The land was so wide, it seemed like it wrapped around the whole world. There was no sign of life except for those three, and the occasional flying hawk. Thick, fluffy snow sat on the hills and mounds. There were barely any trees.
"What now?" said Blue. "How do we get home?"
Moon had a faraway look in her eyes. "You must take the Diamond of Winter from the Snow Queen's palace. It is not too far from here, though you cannot see it. If what you say is true, the Diamond is powerful enough to get rid of the soldiers
that surround your home. It is best if you ask to borrow the diamond politely. The Snow Queen can be very grumpy."
Thad responded, "That's all the option we have, so let's go."
Moon was right, as the palace wasn't far but it perfectly blended in: the right shades of sparkling white and ice blue.
The door opened onto a breathtaking sight.
Chapter Two
Everything was made of ice-the soaring high ceilings, the grand chandelier, the grand windows, and all the ornaments and furniture. It was so beautiful, and so blue.
At the front of the long hall was a high ice throne, where the Snow Queen sat, fidgeting. "What do you want?" she asked in a sharp voice.
Moon bowed her head. "My name is Moon," she said. "I come in peace. I just ask to borrow the Diamond."
