Dyanne L. is pretty much your everyday student and this week, her parents were not at home because they were on a trip.
She takes school seriously and does her work before it needs to be turned in most of the time.
But tonight was different... she used up all of her time reading a book. One that had many pages and one that she found very fun to read.
She ended up not doing her work that was due the next day because she forgot about it.

wow this book is so interesting. I can stay up later because my parents are at a trip!!

But, this book was about a very interesting thing...
something that Dyanne has never even thought about, ever. Which was why it was very fun for her to read.
This book was about religions and about many different life lessons.
She came to learn that people with different religions do not believe in the same things and do not teach the same things to their people.
As she read through the book, she read up on many other topics.
See, this book was also about how to put religion into your everyday life, even if you yourself are not part of one.
She found the text so interesting that she still did not think about her homework.

After a long night of reading, Dyanne went to sleep. She went to sleep thinking about the book of religions.

THE NEXT MORNING:
The next day, Dyanne woke up at 6:00 a.m. From there, she fixed her bed, got ready, ate, and then left for school at around 6:30 a.m., making sure she got her bookbag.
As she was leaving for school, she remembered something...
She thought about the work she had that was due in class that day and got sad because she did not do it.
As Dyanne was walking to school, she saw a man with no home. He was in need of some help.

help me... do you have anything to help?

I'll help you
thank you
She was about to walk away, when she remembered what the book from last night told her:
you always have to be kind to others and to donate to people in need ("Charity in Islam").
This is also called charity which is a very important topic and it is said a lot in Islam.
Charity is talked about in the Qur'an, which is text used to help and lead many people of the Islamic religion (Quran.com).
So off she went to help the man.
But as she got to the school, all she could even think about is the homework she didn't do. But because she was there early (6:30 a.m.), she had time to try to finish the work.
She was very worried about the homework and she isn't used to this feeling at all.

hmmm..
Dyanne was thinking about how to do her work.
Does she not do it? Does she take rests? Does she do it until she's done and until she's very tired?
She didn't know until she thought about the book again.
It talked about something called "withdrawal and return", from another religion called Buddhism.
It tells the reader that you should do the best you can and to take important breaks.
If you cannot do so, then you should "withdraw" your bad thoughts all the way. There is no need for them to make you feel sad if you cannot change it (“Detachment and Compassion in Early Buddhism”).
Dyanne used withdrawal and return. She planned to rest for 15 minutes after doing half of her homework. And that, she did.
After finishing her homework, it turned 8:00 a.m., which was the time school began. Dyanne was still feeling worried because the homework was not the best that she could do.
