After escaping from the burning city of Troy, Aeneas and his fellow Trojans embarked on a long and perilous journey in search of a new homeland. Their destiny led them to the shores of Sicily, an island located off the southern coast of Italy.

Upon arriving in Sicily, Aeneas and his companions were greeted by King Acestes, a generous ruler who welcomed them with open arms. Acestes offered them shelter, supplies, and a place to rest after their arduous journey. Aeneas was grateful for the hospitality and saw it as a sign that they were on the right path.

During their time in Sicily, Aeneas and his Trojans participated in various games and competitions organized by King Acestes to honor the memory of Aeneas' father, Anchises, who had passed away during their journey. These games included foot races, archery contests, and sailing competitions.
