Once upon a time, in a deep, dark wood, there lived a little mouse. He didn't have many friends, but he didn't mind.

The mouse was quite content wandering through the forest, nibbling on nuts and berries and enjoying the peace and quiet. However, the tranquility didn't last long.

One sunny day, as the mouse strolled through the forest, he encountered a fox. The fox's eyes gleamed with hunger as he licked his lips.
¨Hello, little mouse¨ said the fox.
¨Where are you off to? Come and have lunch in my cozy underground den¨
The mouse, quick-witted and even quicker with his imagination, replied, ¨Oh, i'm just on my way to have lunch with my dear friend, The Gruffalo¨

¨The Gruffalo?¨ The fox´s ears perked up. ¨Who is this Gruffalo?¨
The mouse puffed out his chest. ¨He's a fearsome creature! He has terrible tusks, and terrible claws, and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws!¨
¨Where are you meeting him?¨ asked the fox, intrigued.
¨Right here, by these moss-covered rocks¨ The mouse declared. ¨And his favorite delicacy? Roasted fox!¨

The fox's eyes widened, and he quickly bid the mouse farewell, dashing off into the woods. But the mouse´s adventure had only just begun.

Next, he ran into an owl. ¨Hello, little mouse¨ hooted the owl, eyeing him hungrily. ¨Where are you headed?¨
The mouse, undeterred, replied, ¨I'm off to have tea with my esteemed friend, The Gruffalo¨
