Dear Diary,
It is Precious Pugington speaking. You will not believe what we discovered at the canine park today. At 10:00 A.M, Penelope took me and my brothers to amuse ourselves at the park. Pudge and Prince were catching up with their dog pals, Puddles was marking his territory, and Peanut was dozing under the ancient oak tree in the center of the park. While my siblings were frolicking about (and snoozing) Penelope was tossing a magenta frisbee so I could fetch. As I sprinted back and forth, my owner hurled the frisbee a long distance. I pranced right over but was unable to locate our disk.
Then, I spotted it sideways in a lush bush smothered with tiny yellow blossoms. I grasped it with my mouth, then as soon as I ambled away, I discerned a high-pitched squeal.
I was intrigued so I decided to figure out what was creating the ruckus. As I pushed away the brambles, the sight before me was unimaginable. Diary, there were three newborn kittens all bundled up together. They were adorable! Now, I need to notify Penelope. Bye Diary.

Hello Diary,
Yesterday, I speeded up as swiftly as a cheetah in the African savannah to Penelope. As I approached my owner, I barked “Penelope, I observed three kittens within that bush over there. They need our assistance!” Penelope stared at me in confusion because humans do not understand pug language. I kept on yapping and nipping her cashmere pink sweater when I yanked her over to the kittens. Then I showed her the bush and pulled off a couple of leaves. She was speechless, her eyes widened from their cuteness. Once she regained her composure, she ordered me to "be a good pug and stay here. I am going to get my mother.” She dashed away in a flash.
One black and white kitten opened her stunning green eyes and traipsed towards me and squeaked, “You are not my mother. Who are you?” I gently responded “My name is Precious. I am a pug, which is a type of dog breed. What is your name?”
The kitten warily answered “I am Laniakea. That means galaxy in Hawaiian.” As we continued our conservation Penelope returned. She exclaimed, “Mom, look at these kittens Precious discovered. I do not see their mother anywhere. Can we please take them home.” Unfortunately, Penelope’s mommy answered, “No honey, the kitten’s mother might return. She is probably hunting for food.” Penelope nodded and woefully waved goodbye to the kittens. I was heartbroken when I sauntered away from Laniakea and her siblings. I hope their mother will return soon.

Hi Diary,
It is 2:00 A.M! I cannot sleep. I just keep thinking about the sweet, petite kittens at the park. There are a myriad of questions surrounding my noggin. What if the mother does not come back? What if a predator like a coyote or cougar consumes the defenseless felines? They could perish from hunger! I cannot not do this I need to check on the kittens. It had been three days now! I am going to wake up my brothers, Diary. I have Prince with me right now. Pudge would not budge (he was probably dreaming about peanut butter biscuits), Puddles was too tired, and Peanut was snoozing away. Thankfully, our dog door is still open.
Twenty minutes later, we arrived at the park. It is really different here at night. I could discern multiple nocturnal creatures like coyotes yipping, cicadas chirping, and owls flapping about in the pitch-black sky.
There is the bush! Oh, my goodness, Diary, the kittens are frigid and extremely malnourished. I cannot just leave them here.
I tugged on Prince's velvety paw and handed him Laniakea and a slightly more petite striped, gray kitten. While I placed the tiniest of the kittens in my pink paws my brother and I turned around and headed home. Good night Diary.

Hello Diary,
Laniakea and her brother awakened. They were confused at first to find themselves inside our house. Now they are more comfortable. They just finished nibbling on a giant bowl of kibble. Although, two of the kittens are thriving, the little white kitten has not woken up. It has been ten minutes, still nothing… wait. I feel her heartbeat. Diary, she opened her stunning pink dazzling eyes and gazed at me. I cannot believe it her eyes are identical to my bright pink fur. I stared down at her and whispered, “My name is Precious. What is your name? You have stunning eyes.” The kitten purred, “My name is Luna. Where is my mommy?” I remarked, “I have no clue about your mom. You were in a bush shivering.” A few seconds later Luna started purring in my lap (she is absolutely adorable).

Hi Diary,
The kittens are so lively after two days in the house. After observing the felines, I realized they had unique personalities. Laniakea is quite intelligent and introspective, she adores prolonged naps sleeping beside my brother Peanut. The male kitten’s name is Mercury, he is named after the Roman god of speed. He is agile and mischievous. He and Pudge also enjoy combining ingredients for unique snacks together. Finally, Luna is innocent and sweet, we love pouncing and tumbling together. I feel like a mother towards Luna. Keeping kittens requires a large amount of responsibility but... Ultimately, they are just little angels. Like what can happen?

Dear Diary,
Today felt like a wonderful day. The sun’s rays touched my bright pink cheek and I groggily yawned. Then licked Penelope’s face to wake her up. As I hopped out of bed I smelled the dreamy scent of my favorite brand of dog food. I scurried down the stairs then gaped at the kitchen in ghastly horror. Dog food was scattered across the floor, curtains were ripped to shreds, tiny muddy pawprints were on the counter, and one of the kittens had an accident on Penelope’s mother’s lavish carpet.
I zoomed upstairs in an effort to soothe Penelope back to sleep. As her eyes fluttered close, I tiptoed to Penelope's parents’ door and opened it toreset their alarm from 7:00 A.M to 10:00 A.M. I rushed into my parents’ and brother’s room, where I nudged them out of bed and showed them the mess. We put our paws to work but realized we needed more assistance. Then it hit me.
I asked our neighbor, Thumper to come and assist us. Pudge licked up every piece of kibble, Prince and my mother sewed the curtains back together, Peanut wiped up the prints, and Puddles soaked up the puddle on the rug. Thumper and I interrogated the kittens asking them what happened.
Laniakea astutely exclaimed, “Mercury was the one, who ripped up the curtains and made those muddy pawprints.” Mercury hissed, “Hey, it is not all my fault. I thought I witnessed a mouse scurry by. Anyways, Laniakea knocked over the food bags.” She responded, “Only because I was hungry!” Then Luna with big sorrowful eyes meowed, “I drank a lot of water this morning. I tried to use the litter box but did not make it in time. I’m sorry.” I patted Luna’s back and accepted her apology. Wow, who knew how three little cats can cause so much destruction. Well, time to get these pink paws to work, Diary.

Hi Diary,
I have bad news. I overheard Penelope’s parents saying, “We already have seven pugs. Ten pets are way too many for this household. If we cannot find the kitten’s homes, we will have to take them to the shelter.” I have heard that word “shelter” before, Diary. The word itself makes me shiver in fear (almost as much as the word, veterinarian). We need to find these kitten’s homes and fast.
As one hour passed, Penelope and Thumper’s owner, Anna, was thinking of people who would be willing to take the cats. After hours of thought, Penelope’s Hawaiian grandmother called and exclaimed, “Hello Penelope, I have heard you have three kittens, who need homes. Well, I have always desired a cat after my Maine Coon, Plumeria passed. I would love to adopt the black and white kitten. I will be able to pick her up in about a week, if that is okay.”
I bounced for joy and told Laniakea she had a furever home! Then one of the students from Oakland Academy and his father knocked at the door. I barked to tell Anna and my best friend about the possible kitten owner. His name was Theodore, who already owned a Persian and Egyptian Mau at home. As soon as he spotted Mercury he fell in love and his father approved the adoption. Two kittens are adopted, but… Luna does not have a home. I am determined to get my favorite little kitty an owner. I am off on another mission. Bye Diary.

Dear Diary,
LUNA IS GONE! I searched the backyard, all the rooms, and her favorite shoe box. Where can she be? Penelope is at school, this is my opportunity to locate Luna. I asked many of Pudge and Prince’s friends (Puddles and Peanut are not social pugs) if they have seen Luna walk outside of the house. The first canines I asked were the twin French bulldogs Fleur and Remy. They responded, “Sorry Precious. We did not see any kittens on our way to our owner’s French bakery.” Hazel the Dachshund barked, “Nope, no cats were seen around my neighborhood.” Then I asked the elderly bloodhound, Zeus because he is known for his splendid hearing but he howled, “I didn’t hear any cats except for that grumpy, gray cat, who hunts for mice around the alley.” Lastly, I asked Apollo the German Shephard at the police station. Unfortunately, he had not seen Luna around the police station. Should I give up?
