Once upon a time, there was a group of young birds in a magic Pennsylvania Forest who dreamed of living in the Magic Castle.

The birds were getting ready to audition for their opportunity to go to the Magic Castle. All the birds in the Magic Forest wanted to live in the fancy Magical Castle where they could be spoiled in riches by the King.

There was one bird who wasn't like the rest.

Carl the Cardinal was a bright, beautiful red bird. Jason the Blue Jay was a talented, fast-flying bird. Francis the Finch was a dull yellow, slow-flying bird. 

Francis always got ridiculed by the other birds for being an ugly, slow bird. Francis the Finch was told he would never make it to the Magic Castle, but he kept trying to conform and be like the other birds so he could maybe make it to the Magical Castle one day.

I am the most beautiful bird!

That finch is too ugly to beat me! HAHA!

First, Francis joined a beauty contest. The winner of the beauty contest would be the King's special pet and live in the Magic Castle.

Carl the Cardinal made fun of Francis. Carl cackled at Francis and jeered, "you're so ugly! Why did you join the beauty contest? Nobody is going to pick your boring yellow color over my beaming red color!"

Francis the finch lost the beauty contest. Francis felt sad, but he kept trying. He had to find another way to earn a spot into the Magic Castle.

I'm the greatest flyer ever! I'm flying off to the Magic Castle! Francis, you will never make it to the Magic Castle! HAHAHA.

Next, Francis the finch went to a flying contest to be on the King's Flying Team. Francis tried his best but he was too small and too slow.

Jason the blue jay made fun of Francis for not making the team. Jason laughed at Francis and mocked him. "You're a slow poke! You will never get to live in the Magic Castle with the King!"
