Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful
bird by the name of Jay.

She lived in an amazing park with her
wonderful and loving family.

Jay belongs to a family of small, brown
and black birds. For some mysterious
reason Jay is a bit different from them.

She is taller than Momma, Poppa, older
brothers and sisters.What makes her stand
out even more is her color.

Jay has beautiful blue feathers!

Jay was always
made fun of in
school for being
different from
everyone else.

One day Jay decided to put her creativeness
into use and made herself a black
costume to match the color of everyone
else.

Jay was not made fun of anymore but
she still was not happy.

She spent her time away from everyone
because she was too scared that they
would find something new to make
fun of.

On weekends when Jay's family
would go flying and exploring she
would always stay behind at home.

Momma Crow asked, "Jay, why don't
you go on excursions with us, do you not
love us?"

Jay would shyly answer, "Of course
I do Momma, I am just unable to fly as
well as you all are."

That was not a lie. Jay was not able to
fly as fast or as well because her costume
did not allow her to.

Jay's sisters always told her, "Take that
silly costume off, Enjoy life and let
people know what you are truly made of."

But Jay never listened, she did not want
risk being made fun of and did not
want to embarrass her family for being
different.
