The story tells of a tree which no one likes because of the way he looks, however this tree can speak and he tells of his feelings of rejection. It provides a lesson for children of all ages. No matter how you look outside there is beauty within. A remarkable ending.

Once upon a time, in a small village surrounded by a great forest, there lived a boy named Tommy. Tommy loved playing in the forest, climbing trees, and listening to the birds sing.

"Hello, young one."
"Who said that?"
One day, while exploring a part of the forest he had never visited before, he stumbled upon a very old, very large tree. It had a thick trunk, gnarled branches, and leaves that whispered in the breeze.
Tommy sat down to rest under the tree. As he leaned against its trunk, he heard a soft voice say, "Hello, young one."
Startled, Tommy looked around but saw no one. "Who said that?" he asked.
"I did," the voice replied. "I am the Talking Tree."

"Yes, I am quite unique. I have been here for hundreds of years, watching over the forest and all who live in it."
"Can you tell me stories about the forest?"
Tommy's eyes widened in amazement. "A talking tree? I've never heard of such a thing!"
The tree chuckled softly. "Yes, I am quite unique. I have been here for hundreds of years, watching over the forest and all who live in it."
Tommy was curious. "Can you tell me stories about the forest?"

"Of course," said the Talking Tree. "Long ago, this forest was home to many magical creatures. There were fairies, who danced in the moonlight; elves, who built their homes in the trees; and even a friendly dragon who lived in a cave on the far side of the forest. They all lived in harmony, protecting the forest and keeping its magic alive."
"Wow," Tommy whispered, "I wish I could meet them."
The Talking Tree sighed. "Many have left, and some have gone into hiding. But the magic of the forest is still here, if you know where to look."
Tommy thought for a moment. "Is there anything I can do to help bring the magic back?"
The tree rustled its leaves thoughtfully. "There is a legend that says if a pure-hearted child plants a golden acorn in the heart of the forest, the magic will return. I have one such acorn hidden in my branches."
Reaching up, Tommy found the golden acorn nestled among the leaves. "I'll do it!" he said with determination.
